Yesterday Crash, Art Volmer and I took our 60 series wagons up towards Bill Moore Lake. What a spectacular way to spend a Wednesday!

While most trip reports start on the trail, I do have to comment that as we headed west towards Empire and the 2Fs in the group groaned to make it up and over those hills, that 3FE of Crash's sure made it look easy. The CB chatter between Art and I was centered around hoping our 2Fs grow up soon into Crash-tuned 3FEs :D.

This was the maiden voyage of my 60, so Crash picked a trail that was manageable and what a sweet time we had. Unfortunately, snow prevented us from summitting the peak and seeing the lake, but it gave us a great excuse to explore all the connecting trails.

We found an old cabin way back in the hills (yes, you will hear dueling banjos ringing in your ears), but a great place for lunch and then more exploring.

Overall, a fantastic day...got to run over some rocks, drive some serious off-chamber trails and enjoy the mountains.

NOTE: I've been seriously neglecting my secretary duties so that's why the roster is not yet updated, but hey, I've now got a well tuned and running nicely 60 wagon and a maiden voyage under her belt, can you blame a guy :-)

Cool! That first picture is where I broke trail with the RadioFlyer on Monday with a group of Toyotas and jeeps I ran into. I didn't get very far (200 yards-ish) cause I ended up in 4+ feet of snow, but I got way farther that any of the other guys could. I was wishing for a winch and a dedicaded group... :thumb: looks like ya'll had fun!

Schweet! Crash's 3FE is a fine running moechine! His 4:88's sure don't hurt much either!:thumb::thumb:

All that has to be done to even the 2F/3FE equation up is to throw on the Swampers and I'll be living in the slow lane too. ;) Wouldn't have gotten any farther up the trail yesterday with them on, either as the turn around point was in front of a four foot drift not in the trees. True, some yayhoos had created a go-around track to go higher - right past a No Motor Vehicles carsonite board no less  - but we were having plenty of fun staying the trail and cleaning up others crap of which there was plenty. Saw a couple of other spots where NMV boards had been pulled up and closed off trails beat up. Sigh. Still, a great day, especially seeing Carlton's big grin and hearing his joy on the CB. Big fun.

Carlton, you should be stoked about your 2F! That engine is strooong compared to my 60. After I took yours for a spin I was almost paranoid to drive mine fearing it would give up the ghost as I climbed back up I-70. :o

martin, that 2F running strong is all do to you suckin' on the EGR valve, but that really sounds wrong in so many ways :lmao::hill:

By the way, I think you're gone after this week, so have a great summer down south as you park ranger for the season!

right on, thanks. :)

I attached it here in this thread so we always have it (http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=10038)

I have another document that I can't find right now that records the numbers of vehicles seen etc. - I'll see if I can get Brant to send that too.
