This was a great run led by Matt (Hulk) and gunned by (Mike)Tch2Fly. We had 21 rigs with lots of regulars and quite a few new folks. the weather was actually great even though we endured some hail at the rally point. Dinner was also attended by 21 people. Thanks for a great day Matt and Rising Sun.

Here are some of my pics:

And more...

I should point out that Charlie, Matt's son, got into the pepper flakes and had a really tough time stopping the burning in his mouth and lips. He was dousing himself to water and then moved onto cottage cheese when the water did not work (I think Ricardo has some shots of that). I hope things have finally cooled off for him and I bet it will be a long while before he eats pepr flakes again.

Wow, what a great time. Special thanks to Matt F. for leading us today. We had 21 rigs and it was great to see everyone. TTubbs, I was awful sorry to hear about your damage and got to see some pictures at dinner. I really think your 40 is way cool and enjoyed riding across the parking lot with you.

Well, while not an exhaustive list here are some pictures from the day. I saw a bunch of camera's out there today and am looking forward to seeing all of your photos. Mr. Hamilton was not messing around when he got home this evening, great pictures Jeff. :thumb:

You can't really blow off work unless you first show up, so here is my 40 in the work parking lot this morning.

As we were gathering at the King Soopers we got a bit of rain and small hail. It finished just a quickly as it started and we really had great weather.

Here is part of the group at the pre-meeting. Quite a few new faces and for many of us it was our first time running this trail.

Here is a partial shot of the group as we gathered at the bottom of the hill.

Martin, I know you'll be logging on to check on all the 40 activity this summer, the 40s were well represented. Here are a few of them.

There are some nice views on this trail.

After the run we all enjoyed some fellowship and pizza.

Mountain Drew and I had a great time.
Thanks to Matt for leading and the club for buying the pizza.:thumb:

The Iron-butt award goes to Terry Tubb for making an 8 hour  round trip from Crested Butte to join the run.
Unfortunately someone backed into his beautiful 40 while we were sitting at the gather point and there are 20 guys willing to swear to that in front of his wife.:D

But other than that it was a great event

Terry...is she gone now?

really gone??

ok shhh maybe ... just maybe there was a bit of damage done on the trail (pics by Mountain Drew)

What a great time...I'll dispense with the words and get right to the pictures :D

The group shot at the meadow, minus a few that had already started playing on the hill - If you look closely you can even catch a rare glimpse of Kipper :thumb:

Now for the wheel stand pictures...Many partook (is that even a word?) in the fun...

First up was Steve...Very nice

Second up was, well Steve again...Still trying to figure out how he pulled this off

Carlton...Well he got denied on the wheel stand :hill: - Carlton needs a locker :D

Art got in on the action...Nice air

Not to be outdone, Cheeseman pulled this out of his bag of tricks...

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x192/corsair23/BOWAGWR%206-10-09/10.jpg

Then Marco showed everyone up!

http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x192/corsair23/BOWAGWR%206-10-09/11.jpg

Then there was Mike...Showing us, well, ummm, how not to get air I guess :hill:

And finally, the carnage. Sadly, the parking lot hit and run offender didn't leave a note . I think Terry should return to the painter and complain about the paint that is already flaking off, for no apparent reason :)

Great run with great people....can't wait to get back out there.

Thanks, Jeff for my new avatar picture....I don't know how I did that either....too much throttle I think?

Thanks Cheeseman for your expert recovery effort and to every one else who assisted.

Wow looks like a fun time, was thinking of you guys all afternoon...

Steve you are a madman.. yeah maybe a little too much throttle, then again you're still on all 4's so I guess you had it right. So that's the spot right by that tree on the way out, where you could have bypassed it to the left, right? Did it get dug out a little more than it was before?

First, I had a great time, in spite of a bit of trail damage.

Thanks to all of you. Cheeseman for getting me upright again and safely back on the trail. Thanks to all of you who provided moral (or morale) support and advice. This just gives me something to do next winter.

Lessons learned - The 40 does not handle like my 80. The learning curve is still steep, but I will be coming back for more.

Next time I will listen to Chris (Sandstorm) and take the bypass on the more "tippy" sections. Tall tires, four inch lifts and short, narrow wheelbases don't do well on radical trails.

I wish I could have stayed for the dinner, it looked like fun, but it was 11:30 by the time I got home last night. Cottonwood pass was a mess and I also learned the 40 has lousy headlights (more mods to come).

Note that I have changed my sig line name for the 40 from "Mustard Seed" to "Marmot" which is defined as a "small yellowish animal that heads for the rocks when startled".

My wife waited up for me last night. She took it all well, I think. I hope to be able to move back in later in the month. Terry

Yup that's the spot....big hole, short wheel base 40, it is a challenge. Zepp made it look easy!!!!

That's the spot.. it is dug out pretty bad right now. The entire uphill section of the "exit" route is in rough shape. Lots of "new" bypasses showing up:rolleyes:

Great times were had. Wish I could have made the pizza party but since skipping work, I needed to get home and make up for it. I hope this becomes more or less a regular thing this summer. When I saw 21 rigs there I was initially thinking we wouldn't make it off the trail until 8pm :hill:
What a great group of guys and "gals".

That was a blast. Sorry I could not stay for pizza..

Terry, your FJ40 still looks super cool, maybe more so now that it has a battle scar. Drive that aound CB for a while before you fix it..

What a great afternoon and the trail was super fun. That would also be a fun last minute trail/family camping site to consider.

I know this is way after the fact, but does the section of Slaughterhouse where everyone did their wheelstand have a formal name--is that section of the trail called anything in particular?

No idea if it has an official name or not...If not, how about "The Tubb" in honor of Terry :D
