View Full Version : Anyone Ever been on the Green Ridge Trail?

I am going camping with the fam this weekend and have been trying to decide where to go. I'm not looking for a true campground. I want National Forest or BLM so the dogs have more freedom to be off leash and fishing close by.

I have been looking in the area around Chambers Lake off of Hwy 14 (Page 18 approx D.1, 3.5 in the Colorado Atlas & Gazetteer). The Green Ridge Trail(FR 177) heads North from here and I was thinking of taking it to Larimie Lake or Twin Lakes.

Has anyone driving this portion of the trail?

From what I have read the trail overall is considered intermediate with a lot of mud holes. Any input would be great.

Not sure of the specific trail that you speak, but here is a good resource for some of the grat passes/trails and their condition and if they are open or not.

Go into Green Ridge Trail from the Chambers side. There is some spectacular camping all over the area. GRT is always full of mud holes but you will be fine on the west side. Skeeters are usually plentiful up there so be prepared!
