Are all the 4 speed trannys (H4x) from the FJ40 and FJ60 direct bolt on interchangeable?

For example, would a 4 speed and split T-case from an 86 FJ60 bolt on to my 76 2F? What about the parking brake?

My research found all the H42's are the same and will bolt up to the 2F with the proper 4 speed bellhousing. You'll probably want to run the 4 speed FJ40 transfer case instead of the FJ60 split case in order to retain your parking brake.

BTW, I have a spare FJ60 H42 if you want it.

You can also run the split case and re-route your ebrake - Max installed an FJ60 ebrake lever on the floor just left of the driver seat.
Works great.

Isn't Max also running FJ60 axles with the E brake?

If you want to be sure, I'm sure MUD has a table (I think I've seen it in the tech links or somewhere) that has a spline count etc. for all that stuff.
