I have a 1973 FJ55 I need to get Powersteering installed on, The parts we have are the donor FJ60 column and and powersteering gearbox. I know i still need to get the Pump and hoses together as well as the linkage parts.

Is there anyone around who would be willing to install the gear box and get the major welding work done on this? How much would this cost?
Please PM me if interested in doing some fab work (experienced in this would be great)
Im in Northern Colorado
Thanks Carlos

Good call Jeff!

I just saw this thread Carlos. You can come aver and take a look at my 60 PS on the '74 Pig.

The PO sleeved this frame so the fab was minor. I can recommend a few folks in the Fort for fab...

TJ,
Are you still in the same place?
Originally I was hoping a member would be willing to do the welding with my help and some beers or something. I think i can figure out the Hoses and bracketing. I called John at Coyotes and he gave me a pretty good quote to do it all. I posted this before I called him. Im may just go that route and save some time and headaches.

What pump and bracket are you planning on using? i'm going to power on the blue/white 55 with 2f, but not tapped for factory ps, so i'm considering options currently. haven't really found any great options (low price/low hassle) yet.

I am in the same place...

One way to solve your PS pump mounting issues is swap in a 3FE!

I highly recommend it...

(now that mine works)

The Pig actually has a Chevy V8 in it so i was going to just go with a chevy pump and bracket to the 60 box. That will work right? As long as I can get the high pressure hoses made up correctly?

should work fine. Or Saginaw box. There are plenty of writeups on MUD.

Yeah, thats what I thought.
I already have the 60 series box and column, so I was just wanting confirmation.

Thanks

I don't know about the 60 column and how that will work, but the 60 box will work fine with a Saginaw pump. I just did that on my 40; see my sig line for a link.

Carlos,

Sounds like sag pump and 60 box is your ticket!

You can get custom hose made up over by Mulberry and I25, they will use standard fittings, and then you can run an adapator for the metric at the 60 box.

From my thread:

I would probably keep the 55 column unless you really want the 60 column. My neighbor just switched his 60 column back out of his Pig, he hated the "80's look" of the 60 column in his Pig. It isn't even PS, so I am not sure why the PO bothered to put in 60 column...

why not just get the metric fitting in the first place? and skip the adapter? I had our local CarQuest make my high pressure line when I did my SBC swap in the 60.

That would be even better!

I couldn't get hose made with metric fittings locally...
