Burt Toyota is now Groove Toyota!

Burt sold its Toyota and Subaru stores today, so Brian Cobain (thefatkid) and I (well everyone here actually) are having to reapply for our jobs. It's a little frightening, so your thoughts and prayers are much appriciated.

That is a bummer guys. I will keep good thoughts for you and Brian.

Amazing, one of the oldest privately owned dealerships sold. That is where I bought my first new Toyota in 1983.

We'll keep a good thought out for you, Brian, Ben (if he is still there) and Jerry (Parts). Echoing what Mr. Noble says - you have a large number of references in the club that would be willing to "stand up" for you.

The Broadway dealership is very convenient for me to hit on my way home and has been a long time supporter of the Rising Sun and TLCA.

One wonders about whoever is in charge of naming the dealership... Groove Toyota??

But the purchasing group has GOT to manage better than the prior ownership. A blind squirrel could do better.

I didn't think anyone could do worse than "Go Toyota", but alas I was wrong...

They promised not to use groovy in any of their ads. They're pretty gung ho about this whole thing so it's refreshing.

Who bought it? I know the people who own Vista Auto group in Silverthorne and Glenwood were looking into the Burt stores.

Sorry to hear that. That tactic allow the new owners to reset everyones salaries and job levels. I hate when they do that, you usually get screwed. Hope you guys fare OK.

Ya not looking forward to the pay cut, but they're honoring our Burt hire date for vacation seniority. Thankfully.

Are you sure there will be a pay cut? Or just going on the basis of the laid off/rehire tactic and its possible rationale?
There are lots of accounting reasons to do that, that are not underhanded. Good on 'em for honoring seniority; vacation is an instant liability on the books so that is an employee-centered move on their part. Many companies are forcing employees to burn vacation just to get it off the liability side of the books. Hunting or weddings be darned.
