Hey, has anyone done this? http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/292564-change-fp-filter.html I'm thinking about it.. appears to be fairly straight forward, heck I'm actually pretty good at removing seats... ;)

Any other 80ers interested in a sock swap party some time?

edit: and I could show you how to do your recliner hinges too, as long as the seat's out... just sayin'

Tim, I have had my float hang up twice and removed the pump to free it up. Tank looked spotless inside (135K) and I did not change the filter. Remember to get the alum banjo washer that goes on the fuel line as well as the gasket. I did not replace either and I have no leaks, but I had them just in case.
I did not even know to replace that pump sock, but my recollection was that everything was very clean. Hope this helps.

I am certain you will be very cautious, but I would suggest doing this with a nearly (at least 3/4) full tank of fuel on a level surface. The less airspace you have in the tank when open, the less likely you could have a large explosion should static or a spark trigger ignition.

It also goes without saying, have someone near you with a fire extinguisher standing by. Opening fuel tanks can be very risky business. T

Haven't done it, interested in doing it, and have almost ordered the parts a few times :D

IIRC the parts are really pretty cheap and once done it would be something else I probably won't ever have worry about again :)

:lmao: - Let's leave out the explosion part though! I'm game, just a matter of when? After the Ouray trip and before I leave for Germany later in September or sometime in October...

Want me to order the parts for you when I order mine?

Yeah it's going to have to be after Ouray... September should be better though.

anyone else want to do this?

edit: oh, and I move we just order them all at Stevenson West.. then pick them up at the September meeting.
