Hey Mike or Ken.
There is a guy that is admiring the mirrors on Ken's 40 and wondering where one can get a set. Would it be possiable to find out where they came from? thanks Robbie

CCOT arms....I would recommend not buying the heads there though. The quality of those is less than desirable.

Buy the arms there but don't let him buy Jeep mirrors or the bad quality OE lookalikes. I am going to buy OEM mirror heads for mine.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread but my OEM door mounted mirrors never stay adjusted. I have tightened them as much as possible but every time the door closes they fall out of adjustment.

Do cowl mounted mirrors alleviate that problem?

I picked up mirror heads from NAPA. They are metal (not plastic), pretty white color and the attachment is much better.

I have the CCOT mirrors and I think they're fine. They tighten up and hold position well. I would prefer OEM (look way cooler:cool:), but the price was right, and I like that they can be connected to either the hard doors or windshield hinge.

All the cool kids will be running these soon... OEM mirror heads, no Jeep parts, or truck stop chevy parts. :hill:

Wow, the OEM heads are cheaper than I thought. Thanks for the link Mike. Want to order me a set too. ;)

Swap the first numbers of the CCOT part number and...BAM! OEM part number. shhhh it's a secret;)

67901-80011 CCOT
87901-60011 OEM

87902-60030 is the OEM arm

Bringing this thread back from the depths, anyone know if the windshield mounted mirrors will clear a snorkel? I am thinking of adding a set of OEM mirrors to the 40.

yes and no. They will fit but you have to angle them forward and out. They work but are funky

Thanks Wes, I might build a spacer or something. I am ordering a set from Toyota this week. Thanks .

Just mount the mirrors on the flat vertical portion of the cowl, like factory. This was stock on 67' and older US 40's.

That is what I was hoping, my snorkel attaches like that. Thanks guys

the only problem with that method is you drill holes in the tub and you permanently mount the mirror there. Early trucks didn't have mirrors on the door. Late 40's if you put the doors back on you have a 2 mirrors. Either run both or take one off. IMHO they got it right on early trucks vs putting them on the doors later. I was actually pulled over in VA a long time ago for not having a side mirror when I pulled the doors off my later truck and just used the rear view. only got a warning tho

anyway...

ok what are the Toyota part numbers?

that CCOt site is confusing... I like the ones on top that are more rectangular, but they only sell those as 1 each. When you scroll down to the pair option, the picture of the mirror is totally different, and not as cool looking IMO. I like the rectangular ones towards the top- is that the OEM style?

I need to shed these aftermarket mirrors.. Ige was over on Saturday and made fun of me. :)

I don't see OEM mirrors for your model year FJ40 on the CCOT site. Do you want something that will mount to the hard door? Cruisercorps appears to have a complete set (probably aftermarket):
http://www.cruisercorps.com/body/mirrors/mirror-set-1977-1984.html

For windshield mounted solutions, whatever floats your boat. The only OEM solution was on way earlier rigs so it wouldn't be "OEM" for yours.

I did not like the plastic backed mirrors that came with mine. I went to NAPA with the diameter of the ball the mirror mounts to and picked up some metal backed replacements. Pretty straight forward to change out.

The mirrors for your 1982 are 87901-90303 and 87902-90301: RH MIRROR ARM: 8/1976-EOP. Does not come with gasket, though those are available still and the same side-to-side: 87911-90300.
Only the right hand mirror arm is available I guess....

I am running into issues with Stevenson ordering parts for me on any part number pre 1969. They refuse to go the next step if the computer says it is a valid part number but pre 1969. For those parts I call CDan and he has absolutely no problem taking my money.

wow, sweet! thanks guys.. so Mike short answer then is just call Onur? I can do that..

and Matt I have already abandoned period correctness... case in point my 15" rims. Anything I see on an earlier model that I like better I'm ok with, so long as it was on a 40 at some point? I know, tough line to cross... my criteria in this point is they need to be pewter gray, mount to the windshield hinges, be Toyota, and not jiggle excessively. My current setup is 0 for 4 in those respects.

I have the long rectangular mirrors. My only complaint is the rubber gasket around the outside slips off very easily and mine actually fell off in moab last year. So, if you get those, I would put a little super glue or something else to keep the gasket on.

x2, I've made a habit of using some black silicone after losing a couple of them.

We (Cruiser Outfitters) likely can't beat your Toyota insider pricing BUT we have all of the mirror options and arms in stock, OEM and some aftermarket options (newer door style arms for example) here in stock in Utah. 2 days to your door :D

Ok so 87901-60011 is the rectangular one, x2 Put sticky stuff on the outer rim, got it.

Kurt do you also have the discontinued arm for 87902-90301, the 90303? You can put those in my pile, if so.

Aftermarket only, no OEM... yet. I may have a line on some from Aussie.

LH is 87905-90301 (OEM)

We have the arms in black and chrome as I recall.

Just had to do a glue job this past weekend. Used some 3M Weather-Stripping adhesive. Hopefully I don't have to run back down the trail looking for the rubber anytime soon :D

Well done. I wish I still had mine to put the 3M on. They look so naked without the black border to frame them.
