I know some of you are business owners and was wanting to know the steps and where one registers a business in the state of CO. I had done this in MN, but need to transfer my stuff to CO and was hoping to get so insight from people.

Here is a good place to start:
You will want to register your name and get a sales tax license. You may also want to get a Federal Tax Payer ID. The federal id number is only required for a corporation and optional for the rest.

When you create the name of your company, you can check to see if that name is already registered in the state of CO. Do that here: http://www.sos.state.co.us/biz/BusinessEntityCriteriaExt.do
Then, you can use the other tabs to register your company in the state of CO. It can all be done from the website. You can call the CO Secretary of State office at 303.894.2200 for additional details. If I remember correctly, it cost me $50 to register my company with an Articles of Organization notice. All done online in less than 30 minutes.
As previously mentioned, you will need to call the IRS and create a Federal Employer Identification Number. When you register your company in CO, you will get a CO EIN, you still need a Federal number. Call 800.829.4933 to set that up. From my experience, you take care of CO first and then do the Federal stuff with your CO information on hand.
Of course, contact your lawyer and accountant to take care of those aspects of your business and if you need marketing help give me a call--sorry for the shameless self-promotion :D
