Fun for a Friday (or Thursday into Friday...).

If you had to choose any 5 cars/trucks/bikes to label as your "dream rides", what would they be? Money is no object (but not necessarily a critical factor) - just pick 5 beauties.

But since this is Rising Sun, there is a caveat. You may not choose a Land Cruiser, Tacoma/Hilux/Mini, 4Runner or Stout for your stable.

Your making this a touhg one Matt without having the option of Toyota vehicles.....

But none the less here are a few that i'd have:eek:

1) ALWAYS gonna love the Pagani
2) Rat Rods are just to cool
3) The Brute always seemed to be a good expedition platform. Throw a RTT/Fridge in the beast and your good to go.

Old Mopar would be my honorable mention

This is painful as I am so damned anal about being unique but Corbet nearly pinged my choices perfectly. The exception to his list would be a Blue Yanco as #1 and instead of the AC cobra I would have to go with a MKIIGT-40....

Still pic just can't capture the love..... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGU3iHW7npU)

Ducati Streetfighter (to show my kids how to wheelie), Ferrari 599 (for date nights with wife), Oshkosh Snow plow truck (for the driveway of course), 750Li BMW (for road trips), WRX Sti (to get the groceries/commute).

Corbet's garage looks great!
Hmm, none of my dream rigs have more than 2 doors or seats!

Case Unimog for work around the farm and trips to town. I LOVE the forest of shifters sticking up through the floor!

Boss 302 Mustang for the nostalgia.

M715 Diesel swap with big tires for wheeling.

DeTomaso Pantera so I have something to work on that leaks oil and oozes 1970 drug dealer style.

Tesla Roadster all electric car for around town. EVs are the future and it is the first cool one of note.

thanks the boomboom. I didn't notice the rule. I still didn't pick a toyota.

I have to tell you I had a great time touring the Western USA in my 1980 Ford Bronco. Rusty...but great truck despite the lack of a conventional live front axle.

I have to get a picture of it to you.

AC Shelby Cobra 427. I had a chance to buy a replica 5.0L as the company making replicas was going out of business. At a discount. Had a project in Milwaukee. I almost pulled the trigger, my wife was even halfway on board (she gets that funny look in her eye too, with that sort of thing). Decided to be responsible for once.

Dang that was a mistake. :lmao:
http://www.automundo.com/NUEVA/clasicos/AC_SHELBY_COBRA_1965.jpg

A new Ford Shelby Cobra GT500. I like the new Cobras. Couldn't insure it probably. LOL
http://www.ridelust.com/wp-content/uploads/shelbygt500.jpg

I like classic looks... but new under the skin... in silver I think, though. Air cooled, Desmo valves but easily adjusted (relatively), modern suspension and frame and brakes, cam belts instead of towers...

The original, $70,000, 1300cc-built-on-a-R90-motor-with-copious-unobtainium-parts Paris Dakar Beemer. Not one of these SUV-like things on their showroom.
http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/photogallerys/bmw-paris--dakar---Frank-Me.jpg

A friend of mine (female of course... that's how she could talk her way into it) got to ride the real deal at Steamboat. Really. The guy could've gotten fired for it. Crack the throttle and experience Shuttle Gs.

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/photogallerys/bmw-paris--dakar.jpg
I tried to build a replica more or less out of an R80 G/S with XR600 forks and Works Performance rear shock. Not a firebreather but it would go ANYwhere. I was considering a built R100 motor for it but money got tight and I let it go. :(

1947 Chevy Pickup, with a modern chassis and firebreathing FI V8 something-or-other under the hood, excellent IFS/IRS suspension, and some sticky wide tires four corners. I could start here:

I've always wanted a Power Wagon, I love the way they look...

And the 550 is just a classic. La Carrera Panamericana... mmmmmmm.......

And the 917/30 is just pure power in a day when there were no rules. could you imagine racing this thing?

It'd be sweet to have an original 1973 RSR.. The real deal would be a great track car.

32 ford coupe set up for the salt flats would be sweet. Sometimes these machines make me feel like I missed the day when everybody was trying to figure it out.

and a WRX with retarded HP for a daily driver and track special. Preferably not ater Ken Block was done with it.

Had a 280ZX (my wife did, actually; got it for her to replace an old Corolla that was 44% rust). I know, not the same thing, but it was a nice car. Pretty, and black. Looked great with some aluminum & black wheels and short sidewall tires. Fun to drive.

The electrics were not stone reliable (an ignition module could leave you in the middle of nowhere with no warning). But at least certainly not as bad as Lucas, Prince of Darkness.

I really really tried to figure out how to put a kid in the back. I finally figured out how! Trade it in on a 1990 4Runner (which became Red Chili I).

DaveInDenver
10-11-2009, 02:53 AM
Corollas of that vintage came off the boat 17% rust, so 44% isn't all tha bad. My buddy had a Collora that when it was killed by the rear end there wasn't anything left but vapor for the State Farm guy to assess. But St Louis = real rock salt for 6 month of winter, rust was ugly. Seemed liek all the 1991 Toyota pickups had left our mortal world when I'd left for greener pastures of Colorado in 1996. When I was back in Sept, you;d mistake our response for a 1982 Hilux with my piece of turd. Oh My Gawd, is that an old Tacoma?!!?

Good call! We have a bit of "Z legacy" in our family. My Grandpa had a "rare" 260Z with the big bumpers - I think it was a '75. When he died my Dad inherited it. We drove it to Florida, and then when my Dad was transferred to Helsinki, Finland he had it shipped over there and drove it for 3 years in cold Scandinavian north (still with Florida plates - got a TON of comments). Then shipped it back to Georgia, and sold it there finally.
