This is what happens when you try to solve judgment problems with laws/rules. People forget how to use reasonable judgment.

that's stupid. In 4th and 6th grade we all went on school-sponsored camping trips (cabins) and were encouraged to bring the same exact utensil set (complete with fork and knives). We came to school with our backpacks, loaded the bus and - oh my! - nobody got stabbed

"Judgment" and "Discretion" will get you sued, so what we are left with are ludicrous, blanket policies. Sad.

In Outdoor Rec in middle school we shot clay pigeons with shotguns on the football field! Now a little kid can't bring his cool gadget to school to eat his lunch. Freaking lazy ass liberals not willing to teach basic moral value to our kids without getting lawyers involved! RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I bet there have been republican lawyers who have gotten rich off of similar lawsuits. Not saying the approach we have as a society towards this is right I am just saying we have too many lawyers and way too many lawsuits.

I was not saying that at all I am sure Democrat lawyers have similar suits but the previoius post made it sound like this was only a result of Democrat lawyers.

Being Liberal doesn't give you a Democrat cloak. Remember, I live near Boulder.....Your either with 'em or you have road rage following thier Subaru's! I'm the latter.....

Sorry to let you down but I don't own a Subaru, don't eat granola all day, and don't ask the government for hand outs all day but I do sometimes vote Democrat.

Oh yeah I prefer my women with shaved legs also.

:lmao: There have been a couple Dems that I have selected out of the lame choices on the ballot too! Lately I haven't been nearly as annoyed by the political bill boards on the back of Boulder Subaru's nearly as bad as the Hyper mileing Prius's! Now thats really annoying!

Just so we're clear, this is what it seems the boy brought to school. I still have mine from when I was a Scout. Clearly this young man is a menace to society, being trustworthy, honest, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.

The kid and his folks are interviewed on ABC. They show him tinkering with the utensils.

It's this I think, the Mercury set, or something similar.

I have a zero tolerance policy regarding stupid people and they all fit the bill. All they are doing is covering their collective asses, it is easy to just "zero tolerance" that way they can't be blamed for making a judgement/decision that is wrong.

IDIOTS!!!!! That is what they are all of them IDIOTS!!!!

I wonder if the principles/teachers cork screw is included in the weapons part? They better switch to flasks in the classroom.

Hey- that's pretty darn cool. Me want.

Looks like the school district underwent an idiot-ectomy, due to all the attention. That hasn't happened much. Maybe the tide is turning due to people getting fed up with automaton policies.

Note the special ed teacher who still thinks it was a good idea...

Heard this one on the radio this morning and it made me laugh....

Their punishment included 45 days at a reform school so they also sent him back in time to the 40s. :lmao:

Another danger to society caught red handed.

New York Eagle Scout Suspended From School for 20 Days for Keeping Pocketknife in Car (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,565520,00.html)

Eagle Scout doing what 95% of the rest of the country doesn't, being prepared for the unknown. Had stuff to survive a break down or whatever might happen in his car. Things like a sleeping bag, some MREs and water and, dear God, a 2" knife. All of this was locked in his car that was on school grounds.

Zero tolerance policy = 5 day suspension with an additional 15 days tacked on later. Kid was a good student, something of a local hero for performing CPR on his aunt and saving her life (he was given the Lifesaving Heroism Award by the Boy Scouts) and was trying to get into USMA at West Point. This suspension could make his application look worse and could ruin it. Ridiculous, I just shake my head.

This one makes it hard to work with and encourage these good young people to achieve something lifelong for themselves. But I also do tell them to think about their surroundings no matter what it is. The good ones can't help themselves but to do what is just and right.

I'm teaching 4 classes at our University of scouting this Saturday. I'm sure this one will come up in conversation. Anything you all want me to find out or pass on to these adults that will be in my classes?

Eagle Scout is forever in a person's heart.
