I know, it's strange, a rig from the current decade! :) Up until this point, the FJ60 was the "newest" rig I had ever owned. I've never had a vehicle newer than 1985. :hill:

Believe me, my vote was to put the money into the 60. :o For less $$ I could have basically restored it plus a lift and extras. But, with the new baby coming, Kim wanted something newer, so there you go.:Princess:

I love that truck, but the timing is bad for me.

You could always just sell me the supercharger and buy the 60. :bolt:

Fixed it for you. ;)

I would like to take a look at the mini truck. What would be the best way to get together to see it and test drive it? Any way for you to bring it down to our place so Dee can see it too? I can cover your gas for that trip.

Let me see what I have planned this week. We leave Friday for AZ, but maybe Wednesday or Thursday afternoon I can bring it down if you're around? PM me your address.

Kim and I just picked up a 2004 Tacoma, so we need to reduce the fleet.

OMG :eek::eek::eek::eek: sellout! :rant:

good luck to you. Those are some fine rigs right there!

i know i know :( sad to see them go. (but not sold yet)

Having three old rigs was spreading my wrenching attention too thin. I hope now I can at least get stuff done on my 40, and maybe bolt a thing or two onto the truck as Kim allows. ;)

Hi Martin, what build month is the 60? Before or after May?

May 1985.

What does that designate?

Cut-off date for "old style" H42. Newer than that means an H55F is a straight bolt up and can be done in an afternoon.

Yes, I believe May '85 does have the spacer, so an H55 would be a direct bolt in. I can crawl under it and double check if you want me to confirm.

That's over 3 hours round trip for me. I can't swing that before I head out of town on Friday.

LOL! My mind is like a steel sieve! :lmao:

Actually I had read about this for years on the LCML, but when I took my H41 over to BVB's for us to go through, he had just finished putting an H55F in his later FJ60, and it had only taken him a few hours because it is indeed a bolt up. Earlier rigs require everything from driveline re-tubing to etc. etc.

I have a write up in the tech section of my web site (sig line below) from a fellow who did his on an earlier 60. Not insurmountable; as everyone knows, time, skill, money, pick two.

That would be awesome. I've been looking for a clean 60 for a good price for a really long time. Maybe go to AK. Certainly haul the dog around easier than my 40 (he doesn't fit in the cab of the 45, and no way he rides in the bed).

Back from road trippin'

Come out and check these rigs out if you're in the market for a fine cruiser or first gen mini.
