I guess I should refer to it as the smog pump.

I have done some initial searches on mud and google but have so far had no luck. So the other day my secondary pump started making an awful noise on my 60 and I determined it was the secondary.

Today I got it off and opened it up to find the back (toward the firewall) bearing was gone. So I ran down to whistler bearing and they don't have it. I went to the dealer and they don't show a parts blowup of the pump on the entire pump as a part.

Does anyone know where to source the bearings for the secondary air pump?

I found this on ebay today.

I may just go this route.

That would be my suggestion of you don't need to pass emissions testing. :thumb:

Did you see how much replacement FJ60 smog pumps are on the $or website? Over $1000 for new and $450 for rebuilt.

Grab them at the junk yard whenever you see one.

The rear bearing is an unusual one, I doubt you'll find one stocked anywhere. Back when I was dealing with smog pumps, I could get a "rebuilt" unit from Checker for less than 100$. The quality of the rebuild was lame as in they barely pumped any air but at least the main shaft bearings were functional.

I agree on the rear bearing being rare. The guy at Whistler bearing looked everywhere then called some other people with no luck.

I like the copper plumbing fitting (elbow) that comes with the Checker reman air pump. At least you get to glue it in yourself with JB weld, so you can set the angle you like. I'd installed a few Checker pumps, and to their credit - they bearings are good. They don't move much air.
