Looking for something that is stock without too much rust (restorable) and with the Toyota F or 2F; no V8. I want the old and slow version.

I am looking for one to take on the easy trails this summer with the kids and restore eventually, so please shoot me a PM if you know of any. I am trolling CL every day now...

Thanks!

I have a 73 with a super clean tub and body (no rust), but it has a V8. Otherwise it's pretty unmolested.:)

I did see that one and emailed the seller last weekend. I wish it were closer; I don't have a chance to get up there for a while.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I have PMed/emailed everyone so far.

I have a 69 I would entertain offers on. Has a 2f out of a 75 but otherwise original with full cage and tuffy. Lift with 33's. PM me for details and maybe we can meet up.

Thanks! I talked to the guy today and am #1 in line to see it when he gets back in town next week. This one sounds like what I am looking for exactly.

Went to check out this rig and the ENTIRE tub was covered in diamond plate...all the way to the firewall. It was painted white to match the body, so it didn't show up in the pictures. Had to walk away...it was a nice truck other than that. I could tell by the inside of the tub that there was an undetermined amount of rust hidden underneath. Damn.

Well, made a deal today on a 100% original (even paint!), Arizona rust-free 1976 FJ40 today with 69,700 original miles. Going to drive her back to Denver next weekend (unless I can find a good hauler in the meantime).

HOW COOL IS THIS? I AM PUMPED.

Thanks...can't wait to get this thing back to Colorado where I can cast my evil spells on it.

I am gonna cut the fenders, throw in a 350 with a blower and a hood scoop, paint it a non-OEM color (yellow or purple, maybe), put a skull on the gearshift, add some Chevy Blazer axles, 35s, Pontiac seats, diamond plate dash, diamond plate hood, welded home-made winch bumper, and a few other odds and ends that our Craigslist friends usually do to these. Jesus it is hard to find an original FJ40!!! I sure hope this one is what I think it is.

Wow, that looks super nice. '76 is a good year to buy, too: first year for front disc brakes from the factory.

Definitely joking! 99% of these that I looked at for under $ 10K were completely molested. Some were unbelievably f'ed up.

Found it on CL in Phoenix. Now I've got to figure out how to get it back here in the next week or so.

Can't wait to hit some trails with you guys this summer with the top off...

I thought '78 was the first year of disc brakes? I'd be really fired up if this one has them?

'78 had disk brakes, fine spline axles and 4.11's. the '76 would be disk brakes, and course spline.

Well, just got this email from the owner in AZ. Don't know what to say.

"Let me apologize for any hardship this may cause you, but we have decided not to sell the FJ40. We will return your check to you if you have already sent it out. We are not selling the vehicle to any other party, but have decided that as long as we own our desert property we want to have the land cruiser.

Again I apologize for ant hardships this news may cause you."

Gotta stay positive...back to the search.

Oh Man, bummer! :(

What's your budget? There's a nice one on Ebay locally (Pine, CO.), but not cheap:

Ebay 40 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120541316304&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT)

You could make me an offer as well, '73 with a '77 2F, soft top (Pakistan) + 2 sets of bows, bimini top, hard top, a spare 4 speed and TC, 3 sets of doors including OEM soft doors, OEM PTO, and lots of other parts:

Very sorry to hear the seller got cold feet. That thing was a beaut.

My buddy Ben is selling a freshly restored 40. This thing was done right as far as build quality. It may not be your style, but PM me for his personal contact info if you want to see some more pics and chat with him. Can't hurt to make him an offer...
