Some of our members enjoy debating politics. Others clearly don't.

We have a new method for filtering out the political threads on the forum. To see them, you must "opt in" to the "Political Debate Team" group. Any registered user on the forum may join the group -- you do not need to be a Rising Sun member to join this group.

If you would rather not see the political discussions, you don't need to do anything. They will no longer be visible when you select New Posts.

If you want to see these threads (even if you never post any of your own comments), joining is easy.

Step 1: Go to your User CP.

Step 2: Go to Group Memberships in the left column.

Step 3: Join the group.

This should provide a good method for not annoying the people who hate politics, and allowing the discussion to continue for those who like to debate.

Ditto to the above (not that I'm looking :hill:)...

Also seems that quite a few of the threads went away

Guys, I probably won't fix this until tonight. My apologies. Woody (ih8mud) has already sent me a bunch of advice on how to fix it, but I have to attend to my work duties now.

Sorry.

It's also sorta funny, every single thread in there was started by me. Whoa.

Matt, it's a lot easier to make a forum invisible to non-members and create a usergroup for those interested. A bit more work for you but since there's not that many really interested it would probably be more efficient.

Chris,
The Political forum probably gets more views and posts relative to any other area. Why do you think no one is interested?
Cheers,
Jeff

Matt,

How about you "undo it" until the technical solution is resolved?

I wasn't referring to using "groups" but you apparently got it so it's all good. :thumb:

I was hoping this would stay broken so I wouldn't be tempted to go in there and pick random arguments to try and get into.
