Hi All,

I am the new owner of a 1967 FJ40. Several things have been modified/changed already, but I think it is going to be a fun project. After I bought it, I found it posted on the Forum here:

http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=12297&highlight=1967+fj40

The tub, fenders, top, and hood are in great shape. It has a painless harness for both the chassis and the TPI 350 / 700R4 set up. The transfer case, I'm assuming, is factory with the manual stick conversion. The SOA axles are Toyota inners with chevy outers (4 wheel disc). It is supposed to be locked front and rear and has good 35's.

The info I am hoping to get from the club:bowdown: is as follows:
why does every place that sells FJ40 parts only list 1970 and up? where are the parts for the pre-'70 FJ40's?
I need shocks, seats (and brackets) and fuel tank? i would appreciate suggestions and pictures.
also, what should I look for or be aware of?

I will be checking in often to see responses and get any info back to you that will help respond.

I won't have it running by 4/3/10 WBPP but would like to come by and meet some folks and get ideas. any objections?

thanks in advance!

Welcome and good luck with the project.

As for where to get things you can either rummage through junks yard for seats and stuff or post up and see if there are any for sale from club members.

Shocks, I run Rancho 9000's (I like the in cab adjustability) but I am sprung under. There are a few 40's in the club that are sprung over and they could give insight.

Again good luck and enjoy..........as a completion goal, we want to see you on 40 only run this summer!

Most parts are still available at the dealer if you can believe it. Call Jerry at Boulder Toyota, Dan at American Toyota (NM), and I'll let the others throw up a name for Stevenson and the other dealerships furthe3r South.

Hey thanks again for stopping by earlier today. I forgot to mention to you that when I was at the pick-a-part here in the springs they had a couple of cars with some pretty nice leather seats. You might also checkout the procar elite seats if you want to buy new.

Joe @ Groove Toyota (aka the old Burt/Go Toyota on Broadway) is a good source on the South end of town...

I wouldn't go to Coyote Cruisers based on some of the previous work on my 40. Just my humble opinion though.

okay, i have another question.

i was looking for t-case rebuild kits and came across the year discrepancies that i referred to above. i dont think i need one, but it was just the thing i needed to communicate the difficulty i am having find parts listed for the pre69 FJ40's.

Land Cruiser T-Case Rebuild Kits
3 Speed 69'-9/73' FJ40/55 - $190.00
Part# TC6973

i assume that means 1969 - sept of 1973 correct?

where do you find parts for 1968 and older?
