View Full Version : window tint glue removal?

04-03-2010, 03:15 PM
I got tired of the cave effect, so I peeled off the after-market tint on
the side windows of my 100. The tint came off easily, but it left
behind a layer of filmy glue. Any suggestions on how to best get
that glue off?

Go to a auto paint store. 3M makes an adhesive remover that is safe on paint, rubber and plastic. I think I have some around if you want to give it a try.

razor blade and windex ...... works charms.. the windex eats the glue.. ive done it at liest 6 times on diffrent cars.. tipically takes just a few min per window.. never had a issue when using windex and razorblade

ya but your going to get wd40 all over your interior.. and i dont know about you but id rather get windex over my interior than wd40.. oh ya yor going to need about 3-5 razor blades per window.. they go fast.. and its much much eaiser with a sharp blade..

Ammonia and water - mixed fairly strong, and clean/new single-edge razor blades.

thanks guys very much for the ingredients... the MR2 needs this done really badly.Ammonia much cheaper than Windex- I can mix that up fairly easily.

Just recently took some tint off my windows. Razor blade first, then windex. Worked good.
