I'm thinking of buying an 80 that's already built. Any suggestions for the best set-up and aftermarkets parts would be greatly appreciated. After watching them in Moab, I got the bug.
By the way, thanks to those who stayed behind with me when I popped a bead on the left rear, and a huge amount of gratitude to Joe at Christo's tent for replacing my front right CV Wednesday evening. The guy is like a machine. It took him 45 minutes complete. Next time I won't buy Budweiser. It was still there the next morning. All of the Bud Light was gone. Lesson learned.

What does it have already?

A very general question. What works for some may not be desireable for others (i.e. rock crawling vs. overlanding). Depends on what you want to do with it.

x2

Give us some hints on what you want to do with it (i.e. what trails in Moab tickle your fancy) and whether it will also double as a DD or not etc.

Good thought on buying an already built one and looking for one with what you want on it. Could save you a ton of :twocents: if the rig has otherwise been maintained.

how about a list of what is on the car as it sits...

I guess i wasn't clear. I haven't found a vehicle yet. I want to know what to look for in one that's already been built up. Moab is a definite, as well as city driving. Any advice would be appreciated. Factory lockers mandatory.
Thanks Again,

You'll look/wait forever if you try for one already built exactly how you want it. I would just look for a good low mileage rig and have Slee bolt on all the goods if you have the coin. :thumb:

Is Bruce Miller's rig still for sale? That truck has everything you need send him a PM and see if it still available.

If you want the "best set-up", start with a stock rig with NO factory lockers. Then add stronger ARB lockers, cr-mo axles, and get everything that Slee has; 4"-6" lift with his new remote resi shocks, all of his armor/bumpers, and 35"-37" tires.

How about an idea on what sort of "range" of :twocents: you are looking to spend?

You could take Mike's approach but you'd be looking at upwards of $20K or more for something like that depending on what the starting base vehicle cost is. Are you trying to find something in the under $10K range or is the sky the limit? :hill:
