That's a good price. I would buy it new, then no worries about someone having run it with the antenna way out of tune and cooking it.

I think I paid $75 last year for one that was peaked at Radio Service Center.

Tim,

If I did not need a CB for Cruise Moab I would give you mine....but oh well.....that looks like a great price. In my opinion you don't need to spend a lot of money on either the CB or antenna.

I know. I just don't want to be "that guy" on the trail that everyone else is like "who's cracklly cb is that, all I here is scratchey bs" and he's 50' behind you. Lol.

The best way to buy a CB, IMHO. Gets you what you want, for a good price, and keeps these guys in business. All good things.

Radio service center wants 99.99 for the uniden pro520 and $119.99 for the 538.
That's twice what I can get it for new. If it was only like 10% more than the Internet I'd buy it there to support local busniess but not twice the price sorry.

Just buy the one online and borrow an SWR meter from someone to check your power out and atenna reflected power when the install is done. 99% of the time they are fine as-is, you rarely gain anything by having a shop "tweak them up". That was sort of true in the old days but with the newer radios they pretty much work straight out of the box.

I agree with Randy. The only reason I paid the extra $ at Radio Service Center is because he spent more than an hour with me helping trouble shoot another faulty radio I had installed and then he tuned my antenna to the new Uniden on the spot.

I guess his prices went up too. $99 for a $50 radio. ouch.
