Hey guys and gals, I just wanted to let you know, Jim over at OCD tops is taking orders again for his OEM style canvas tops. I just placed an order for a gray one with 7 windows. Very exciting.. Now I just need to figure out how to acquire the Bows. I think there is a guy making them as well for around $650.00, Humm. I think I could make them if I can acquire the uprights behind the doors, any thoughts??

Thanks in advance!!
Brian

Can he do customs or just reproductions? I would love a rollside setup for my 44 this summer!

OCD = Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder?

For soft top bows, you might want to look here.

I have never been a fan of the paki bows personally. I have been planning on ordering a set & a half from Paul Pilgrim down in Panama. If enough people had an interest we could do a group order.

You should contact Jim!! He has been wonderful to deal with and I think he does custom orders ocdtops@yahoo.com I asked him about some Footman loops for the back and he said he will include them. from what I have read on Ih8mud, he is VERY open to helping with special requests... http://forum.ih8mud.com/merchandise-storefront/326260-canvas-soft-tops.html Good luck and I hope he can help...

Matt, thanks, I did check out the paktops, they are now being distributed here in the US. After finding Jim at ocdtops and seeing his product, I went with him.

Abe, here is a link that Jim sent me for the OEM soft top bows. http://www.realsteelcruiserparts.net/LandCruiser_FJ40_Soft_Parts.html they look really nice but I am hoping to make my own if I can get the uprights behind the doors and braces to the front window. I have an e-mail into Tony to see if he is willing to sell these components, then i have to buy and bend the tubing.. We will see.. These look much nicer than the paki bows and are not in as many pieces..

I have both the Pakistan Bows and the OEM bows and there is not much difference. I would not hesitate to order the Pakistan bows. Can't comment on the real steel, or Pilgrims because I haven't seen them in person.

I gotta tell you, it floors me that there are so many options for FJ40 replacement panels, OEM soft top bows, etc. I bought my first FJ40 back in 1996, and none of this stuff existed then. You were lucky to get some diamond plate bent and cut to fit your tub.

I was under the impression that the real-steel bows are meda by pacol (or vice versa). Not that it matters, as they look like good enough quality. I just always thought that $720 after shipping seemed REALLY high for aftermarket bows.
Especially since I work in intl. Supply chain mgt & logistics, & my wife is a customs broker. It means we could get the Paul pilgrim bows on the cheap comparitively speaking. Plus I haven't seen the bows, but everything else of his that I have see. Is amazing.

By the way, what is OCD going to charge for the top? Curious to see how it compares to the Pakistan top pricing.

If I recall he sells his for $600 to people on Mud, but the E-bay price is $700 or $800 (don't recall which). So it is comparable, but US made which is nice. Plus I have heard nothing but raves from people that already have them.

Just looked over the thread on MUD again. Looks like he's only offering Canvas? I prefer the double Vinyl of my Pakistan top. Canvas is sure to take a beating from sun/snow/rain/branches. It looks cool, but will be a lot harder to keep it in good shape for more than a couple of seasons, especially if you drive your 40 a lot rather than just keeping it in the garage.
