Anybody know the t-case output/pinion nut size for, say, a 1977 FJ40? I think a 1 1/8" socket will work, but I don't know if that means it's a loose 28mm or a tight 29mm. :o

27mm (I have Dr. Schleg's 40's rear diff on the bench right now.)

that would make it a pretty loose 1 1/8th and a very very tight 1 1/16th

Rudes is correct, took it apart 4 times and I have it engrained now:rolleyes:

Matt where do you live, you can use mine if you want.

Just curious, thanks though Tom :thumb:

Just thinking to add to my tool collection a little bit...I need a 54mm hub socket too...hmm...

Tom the t-case output is 27, right? pinion nuts are 32.

I bought a pretty cheap set of HF impact sockets a while back, they've got one that goes up to 32mm I think. They're pretty decent 6-pointers.. most of them are kicking around in the toolbox at home but the 24, 27, and 32 are definitely in the trail bag.

And 46 mm for the crank pulley nut (since we're brainstorming sockets for the tool collection....)

Tim, maybe your 80 is different than my 40 but I'm pretty sure the pinion and t-case output are the same on my 40.
