We are working in the Hayman burn area. I'm trying to get a group together to move 20 plus tons of rip rap rock. It needs to be loaded, moved several miles and placed in various areas throughout Trail Creek Road (near Westcreek, just south of Deckers). We'll use the rock for erosion control in the riparian area. I have heard wonderful things about how your group helped us after the fire and am hoping to work with you again. The trick is that I have many dates open on weekdays in October and the first Saturday is November 6th. Would anyone be interested in getting together on a week day? Thank you!

For those wondering, here are some additional directions to narrow down the location.

Take 285 South to Pine Junction CR 126 to Deckers
About 10 minutes past Deckers , look for mile marker 90 followed by ABBEY RD (CR 73) on the right (West Creek turnoff)
Follow downhill to T intersection and take a left
This is Westcreek Road. Follow this road until you see the fire station on your right (at intersection of Westcreek and Stump Roads)
Trail Creek Road is appx. one mile past the fire station, a right turn only

Okay Guys, I'm a little new at this... it sounds like Saturday, November 6th would be best to move this rock and repair the road/riparian area. Let me explain a little more - I'm with the Coalition for the Upper Platte, we're a non-profit group that works on water and forest health projects We've done much work in the Hayman burn area -with your help! If we can get a handful of people with trucks we can get this moved and the road stabilized. If you haven't been out to Trail Creek please check it out, it's scenic in spite of the burn and very fun road to play on. Please let me know if you have any ideas or can come help, I'll have a small crew out helping too. Thank you, Lisa (and I drive a Toyota)

Ricardo or Martin,

Can one of you guys get some info out to the club about a possible work day on 11/6 to move rock etc? I might actually be able to make it that day as soccer should be over by then :)

I'm thinking that we unfortunately won't get much "traffic" in this section.

Sure thing. I'll post it up in the events section and I'll also plan on attending. I can't haul gravel in my FJ40, but I can provide some cheap labor. :hill:

Please respond to the thread in the Events section if you can attend. Here's the thread link:

I'm thinking we need a list of what is needed from us?

Lisa, do you need pickup trucks to haul the gravel or just the labor etc.

Ie
need min 2 pickup trucks, do you need people to bring shovels or you can provide up to 10 after that people need to bring theirs. or Just bring gloves and be ready to work?

We mostly need trucks, about six of them, that can take a few dings on the inside of the bed. And people to load/unload rock. It's mostly 4" to 6" rocks. I have tools, shovels, etc. if we need them. It will be a good workout.

What about trailers? Is the trail somewhat trailer friendly?

I don't have a truck but I do have a trailer that might work to haul some rocks....Unhitch the trailer and dump the rock where needed :)

I am available with my longbed, and I have no lift so less shovel lifting required. I, however, am not able to do any lifting (Doctor's orders). I have saved the 6th on MY RS calendar.

If trailers are an option, U-Haul rents 'em cheap.

(Know the difference between a 4x4 and a rental car? There are just some places you won't take a 4x4... :lmao: ohIjustcrackmeupsometimes...)

Hey I heard about this video on KTCL yesterday, found it today. Local Denver band Epilogues filemed their video down in the Hayman burn area.

You can read a little more about the video release party you didn't go to here: http://www.examiner.com/music-in-denver/the-epilogues-hunting-season-video-release-party

But I think it's a pretty cool song, and I like the video particularly since I can identify with the area a little bit.. enjoy!
