Hey everyone I think it's getting close to the time when we should be planning a run to see the color changes in the high country.

I am open to suggestions from everyone as to when we should plan this to try and get the best combination of good weather but see good color. It would be nice to still be able to drive with the top off or the windows down.

I am also open to suggestions on where we should go to see the best color and scenery yet have trails that totally stock vehicles can go on too.

I think it would be fun to plan an agenda where we run trails on Saturday, camp overnight somewhere and run more trails on Sunday. That way folks can attend the full 2 days or just come up for Saturday or just for Sunday. That way everyone has a chance to attend.

IMHO Kebler pass has the best aspen stands unless you go to the dallas divide

lord knows I like me some leaf peeping, in fact, I am off to minnesota in a week or so for some up there. My only concern for kebler is the length of time to get there. It's well worth the drive imho, but we may have more participation with something closer.

The downside is that the closer runs will be packed. not arguing, just sayin'

OK, so far we have Argentine, Middle St. Vrain and Kebler Pass as possible locations. Any more? What time of the year should we plan to do this so we maximize color and good weather?

Kebler Pass is the best aspen stand I've ever seen. Come up from Gunny through Ohio Pass and catch the views of the Castles on the way. You could loop back through Marble and catch some more nice scenery and offroad miles.

Something i have been looking for is a waterfall shot for client with the fall colors around it. Any of these have that opportunity?

the trail that leads out of Camp Dick follows the creek for a bit and I've seen some secluded small waterfalls and basic flowing creek stuff. it's prbably best to find if you are solo so you have a place to park for a while and set up the tripod, hike in a couple minutes, etc.

Thanks. Thats the plan since it is business. If i am wheeling dont like to mix it up. To many things to think about. Thanks for the location. Forgot about that one. Been looking for a waterfall with surrounding trees. Got a few places just need the time to get up there. Thanks again for the input.

We are planning on some really tough driven this weekend.......... may require us to spend the night in the middle of it, or as close as we can get.

Any one up for it?

Could be a long drive with terrible traffic.

Lots of beer will need to be drank in short periods of time. and 6am starts.

OK so we are talking about the CS balloon festival,,, seems like a great photo op and a great time.

It's about an hour North East of the springs on 24 take a right at the little store on the east side of Calhan and follow the signs. You can wonder around in the park for hours and a photo op around every corner.

Guys, sorry if I've lost the momentum on setting this run up. I just got back from Rubicon, were in the middle of a major bid response at work, and my mom has moved into the terminal phase of her illness.

That, coupled with the fact that others have some mountain runs planned in the same time frame that should achieve the same effect, I won't be setting anything up.
