How about a thread to stick your picture that doesn't really need its own thread, or doesn't fit into another area. Could be something funny, something cool, artistic, or just a chance to show off. Post it up!

Here's one circa 1998 taken with a 35mm disposable from Walgreens. Top of Mt. LeConte in the Smokies watching the clouds roll in and the sun set.. It was the first backpacking trip that a lot of my friends had been on and it hooked them. Still one of my favorite spots. The picture sits on my cube wall... looks much nicer than the scan

Here's a few. First one is up towards Torries peak on I-70. Loaded cruiser, bald 29" tires, saggy suspension, and we didn't get stuck (here, at least )

This one I took in South America, on the coast. It was one of those "just pick up the camera and snap a pic and it turns out OK"

I have a cool picture I wanted to post but I am so bad at this internet thing...

BUT any way, on a side note while I was looking at my pictures I could not find the one of me standing on the bridge at Rubithon, and I was looking on here but I could not find it. So if anyone still has that picture if you could PM it to me or whatever, that would be awesome!!!

Taken at Grand Targhee looking at the back side of the Grand Tetons. Got lucky with the day. Funny thing is my dad took a pic from this same location of my mom 30+ years ago before I was born, now I have revived it with the wife and I. If you ski and get the opportunity, check out Grand Targhee.

Sorry about the size. some one needs to teach me to downsize my pics. :)

Today I had to go up to the ethanol plant my company owns and operates, located onsite at Coors Brewery in Golden, which takes the waste beer from Coors and converts it to fuel grade ethanol that gets mixed into the gasoline that gets sold along the front range. Right behind me as I took this picture is one of the largest refrigerators in the world - 6 stories tall and something like 100 feet wide and 500 feet long, perfecting that lovely brew that comes straight from the waters of the Rocky Mountains :D

It's made in Argentina and sold in SA, Africa and Europe IIRC. They call it a mid, but it's on the plus side of mid. MPG is ~30 or around just under 700 miles per tank. I'd buy one if I could, but...

Lots of good pictures this year but some stand out more than others. I like these two from hiking Uncompahgre on Saturday.

First is a shot of me on top of the rather steep north face of Uncompahgre.
The second is a shot of Wetterhorn and Matterhorn taken from the back side right before you do the little scramble to the summit walk.

It took two hours and twenty to the top. Really a great hike. Constant grade pretty much and not all that steep. Trail the whole way and less than four miles. Got a teensy little scramble section and then you're almost done. Definitely one of my faces.

The "D" light is notorious for going out...Most just accept it vs. digging into the dash unless they are planning to mod the temp gauge or have another reason to dig in...

It was discovered long ago that sometimes a hard "whack" to the top of the dash will result in the light coming back on

Here's an older one. Kinda fresh when I took this. Haven't taken any yet of it finished as I wanted to wait for it to heal up a bit more.

My artist, Laura (http://theredcrowstudio.artcodeinc.com/pages/home/), is here in San Diego and I wanted to make sure I got all the current stuff finished up before we move in a couple of weeks. She does some of the best line work I've seen and her color is just crazy. I've got her on the hook to do my back so she'll have to make some stops in Denver.

Nice! Did you have any trouble with the red ink? Last June I asked my :Princess: what she wanted for her birthday. She said a tattoo! When I asked her where she wanted it, she replied "On your arm!" So my first tat was also her first! She said it didn't hurt one little bit! So after my/our first, to follow with the theme, I needed a second one! They aren't quite done but will be soon.

As far as being a Photoshop, maybe. I do see the light at her back and to the right on the towers.

Although I've been able to get a similar effect twice on the White Rim using neutral density filters, timing and a bit of luck. These are film scans and I did work on the first one at the light/dark boundary along the rim cliffs right along the sky to get some detail. The second is a straight scan and you can see the cliffs lost detail. The ND filter is a straight line and the world is not straight, so you have to compromise. The way to do it is take a few shots and make a composite, but that's a pro with a digital camera or unlimited film budget.

The sun just doesn't lie...Looking at the pic of the sunset, the sun would be at 12oclock, the first rock the sun shines at 6, second rock sun shines at 3 (as well as the horse and rider, the third rock gives about a 4:30 shadow. I still like the picture, but the sun isn't consistant.

Indeed.

yUJbT89wKHI

Fear the hearts of men are failing
For these are latter days we know
The Great Depression now is spreading
God's word declared it would be so

I'm going where there's no depression
To a better land that's free from care
I'll leave this world of its toil and trouble
My home's in heaven
I'm going there

In this dark hour of midnight nearing
Tribulation time will come
The storms will hurl in midnight fear
And sweep lost millions to their doom

I have trouble keeping Velvia and E100VS from getting too dense for my scanner, a Nikon Coolscan V. They (Velvia particularly) looks good projected but they just don't scan well, easily at least. My guess it's got a lot to do also that I'm just doing 35mm film and the frame is just so small for a pedestrian scanner. It does a good job making average films look good, so the Ektachrome, Fujichrome, Kodak Gold, etc. look fine for what I do.

To be honest, I've never scanned it myself. I always had roll scanned when the rolls were developed. The frames I really wanted, or the ones that were going to the magazines, would get drum scanned. The files were huge but awesome.

Apparently when the SR71 was built they had to transport it from Burbank to Palmdale. Being top secret, it had to go incognito. What's the best way? Put it in a box!

For a minute I thought that was the transformers they were moving to Idaho springs last friday, then I noticed the cars :)

you think the blackbird is a big plane due to most of the pics you see but it's actually quite small. They have one at the udvar hazy museum, really cool. That, the concorde, enterprise and x35 are the coolest things they have

Have you read this article (http://gizmodo.com/5511236/the-thrill-of-flying-the-sr+71-blackbird)? Must have been such an amazing experience to fly one of those.

The book (http://galleryonepublishing.com/BlackbirdStores/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=29) has got to be pretty cool.

View from right below the summit of longs peak. We were cleaning the last pitch of the Dunn/Westbay route after completing the first hammerless ascent (5.10/C3+) when a brief thunderstorm gave us a quick soaking. Totally worth it for the view we enjoyed with our lunch.

Troubleshooting water penetration problems in Chicago, 37th floor penthouse condo. I rode my bike to the jobsite and didn't want to carry 400 feet of rope, so i just brought 50 foot ropes, tied knotts in the ends and jugged back up to the roof when i was done.

woke up last saturday morning and decided we needed to camp. work stress has been at an all time high and no amount of running/cycling has been able to alleviate it. i needed to get the hell out of dodge even if it was just for one night.

i packed up the truck, woke up the :Princess:'s and said let's go. we wound up at dillon reservoir just after lunch. spent the afternoon wandering breck in the rain. then stayed up late and watched the meteor shower (a first for the girls).

even though it was just one night, roxy's reaction pretty much sums it up...
