If you know anyone who’d be interested in buying Animal, please copy and past the lower part of this E-mail and pass it on. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Animal (one time 4 Wheel Drive and Sport Utility Cover Girl, but don’t let that pretty face fool you!) – here’s some specifics:

Red 1970 FJ40, no rust, 4” Skyjacker Softride suspension, U-bolt skid plates, Rancho 5000 shocks, 350 V8 with SM465 granny gear four speed, 3 speed style transfer case with Don Anway transfer case protector, five matching 35” BFG AT tires on chrome wheels, lockers front and rear, four wheel power disc brakes, Aisin locking hubs, Longfield Super Birfields, dual batteries, Saginaw power steering, tilt wheel with Borgeson U-joints and sliding splined steering shaft, reinforced tie rod and drag link, on-board air, full six point roll cage with five point racing style harnesses (seat belts), nerf bars, custom swing-away rear tire, Hi-Lift jack and gas can carrier, overhead console with Uniden Pro 510XL CB Radio, Halogen headlights wired through heavy duty relays, AM-FM cassette player, new UB40 rear fender flares, and permanently mounted ammo cans for the center console and rear storage.

Mechanically, the motor and transmission have both been recently rebuilt (less than 10,000 miles ago). It’s a new short block four bolt main 350 with hypereutectic flat top pistons, sealed power rings, Clevite 77 bearings, brass freeze plugs, Cloyes double row timing chain, old style heads (thicker castings to avoid cracks), with all new valve guides and screw in rocker studs (I spent $300 on the heads alone, not counting the Crane roller tip rocker arms), Comp Cams 4x4 Extreme cam (designed for maximum low end torque), high volume Milodon water pump, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, totally rebuilt, highly modified Quadrajet carburetor, Accel HEI style distributor including cap with brass terminals and MSD 8.5 mm plug wires, K&N chrome air filter, and cast aluminum valve covers. The flywheel was resurfaced, and I have replaced the starter ring on it. It has a new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bushing. The SM 465 transmission has been thoroughly rebuilt with all new bearings, bushings, and synchronizers.

This is an awesome, trail tested performer that’s still very streetable! It’s been a great all around rig for me, and it’s hard for me to decide to sell it, but it’s time.

I want $10,500 for it.

Also, for $1.50 per loaded mile, I can deliver Animal almost anywhere in the country, if you can wait until I can get loose to do it.

If you know someone who’s looking for a good FJ40, please forward this e-mail to them.

Sorry for the previous e-mail announcing that Animal (my red 1970 FJ40) was for sale, but alas – insanity has returned! I just can’t bring myself to part with Animal, (too many memories, too much fun still to be had) so I withdraw my previous offer to sell.

You’d think that two Cruisers in the family would be enough for most people, but no, not me. I’ve got it BAD!

TTYL,

Randy “Cruiser Fever, but short on good sense” Underwood
