View Full Version : Group buy on neodymium magnet balls (toys)

Woot has a 2-for-1 special on buckyballs today. A good deal, but still $35 for 2 sets of the small magnet balls.

However, I found this site (http://www.theneocube.org/size-5mm) where they sell the magnet sets in bulk, shipped from China. If I buy in bulk, I can get the price down to $11.35/set. From what I can tell, shipping is included. That's 16 sets. I'd like to keep 4 sets for myself, so I'd need to get about 12 other sets sold.

These are a pretty cool toy, however they are not appropriate for toddlers. I want a set for my desk for myself too.

Anyone interested?

There are a lot of regulations regarding importation of magnets, and even more regs for toys. Let alone toy magnets. Be careful & make certain they are pAying all import duties/fees. And also confirm that you won't be the Importer of Record on the shipment. Best

18 is the magic number.

I don't know whether we can get the before Xmas or not, and I'm not certain how much shipping will add. I just sent an email to the person who runs the shipping.

I can order more than 18. It seems like 18 was just a minimum. It may be an extra buck for each of the singles, unless we get another 18.

I'd be in for 2 sets if you get enough for another "lot"...Looks like each lot is 16 sets so you're still a ways off from hitting 32.

Looks like not getting them in lots of 16 bumps the price up per set $1.50 each. That would be fine with me too...Heck, if we have to order some single sets I'd prefer the black or blue balls ( :lmao:). I was thinking I could just order these on my own since shipping is free but they have a minimum order of $100 so that won't work :(

nakman (4) -- 11.35 x 4 = 45.40 (PAID) (DELIVERED)
treerootCO (2) -- 11.35 x 2 = 22.70 (PAID) (DELIVERED)
Uncle Ben (6) -- 6 sets x $11.35 = 68.10 (PAID) (DELIVERED)

So long as the string is tied around a wad of cash, I accept string.

Glad to hear it. My wife and I like them as much (or more) than do our kids. I've been trying to build the 6x6x6 cube with much difficulty. The closest I have gotten is 6x6x5.

It's hard to get the magnet balls to do this:
o o o o o o
o o o o o o
o o o o o o

It seems like they want to do this:
o o o o o o
. o o o o o o
o o o o o o

(Ignore the period in the second example).
I need a magnet tutorial!

My middle daughter and I had a quest/race to see who could create a hexagonal 3D hollow sphere first. I was two sections away from the win....we both failed after two plus hours! Good times! Another fail was to combine sets and cover a glass door knob. The magnets are just too strong and when they have enough of thier buddies around them they will over come wimpy human interface! :lmao: 6 sets was not enough as those whom I didn't give a set to were jealous of those who got them!

Just got this pic from proud daughter # 2....I guess unlike most toys from Christmas the magnet balls continue to entertain! :lmao::lmao::lmao: Yes it is hollow.....

Try "flipping" the middle section. I've noticed the above behavior as well and flipping the offending section end to end seems to do the trick :thumb:

And I'm with UB...Should have ordered a lot more sets. 2 definitely isn't enough :D

Hmmm. We could do another order. I have a few people at work who have seen them and said, "Did you get extras? I would like a set!" :) Kevin Kuhn wants one, too.
