Our good friend Dom just took delivery of his new Uri Buffalo. It's actually more cruiser than many of the Proffitt's cruisers: 2H powered, H55F, FJ62 axles, etc. And it sports a Rising Sun sticker! (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kavandje/153503430/in/photostream/)

It's not about the parts! Profitts Cruisers are titled Land Cruisers. The soul and the paper make it a Cruiser....parts are just parts!

What is that thing? Something completely homegrown? It's cool looking, that's for sure! Very cool of him to display his Rising Sun sticker!

The Uri is made in Namibia, and includes many Toyota parts, such as engine, axles and driveline. In Nambia, just as in many 3rd world countries Toyota is the brand of choice.

Dom flew to the US and attended Cruise Moab 2002. His rear wheel drive Uri is locked in the rear, and has gone many places in the Kalahari desert that his HZJ75 Land Cruiser Troopie couldn't go. After he went on Golden Spike, he has vowed to bring the 2WD Uri to Moab to "Jump the crack!". The buffalo is Uri's latest creation, and Dom took delivery on the first one off the line this past week.

Below is a photo of Dom driving my HZJ75 at Cruise Moab 2002 during a prerun of Steelbender. He brought a Namibian flag, worn proudly on my CB antenna. He eventually gave it to Kim Brown, with her promise to lose the j**p hood hold downs on her cruiser. I don't know that she lived up to her end of the deal...
