Canyon Country Off-Road Vehicle Trails - Canyon Rims & Needles Areas By F. A. Barnes, 1987.

I don't know where I got this guidebook, but somehow I acquired it. Just wanted to share a few pictures. I'll get some more later as I get them scanned in.

Notice how a Dune Buggy could drive Cane Creek (and I wonder when the spelling changed to "Kane").

Have fun.

I remember that rock on the way to Bobby's Hole from our trip last year. Cool!

Edit: Here it is coming from the other direction.

We have a whole ton of his books. They are great. What I love about his descriptions are the road ratings. It was written in a time when trucks and SUVs were set up from the factory to be quite capable offroad (40's, chebby's, heeps, etc...). I remember several childhood trips where the book said: road is moderate. We get there and it was all we could do to get a loaded stock 4runner through.

Couple more: thanks for that picture Matt! :thumb:

Apparently there's lots of places I've never been (looking through Charles Wells' books too) that I need to go explore sometime :thumb:

Thanks. I just searched and Amazon and found several copies of this vintage under the "used tab" . . . and ordered one.

It'd be interesting with that much snow finding your way breaking trail

I have. Camped at the very top of the pass 12/23/00 in beautiful weather and then ran Lockhart Basin where we got 2-3 inches x-mas eve. Made fresh tracks all the way out to hwy 191.

Very cool stuff. I know Colorado was a much more open and wild place back in those days.

Received my $3 like-new copy today from Amazon but inside it says that it's number eight from a series of eight . . . so now I need the other seven.

Found a few old cruiser photo's in a 4wheeling book from 1975. Not quite on topic for this thread but figured some may enjoy them.
