renewed the plates on the 76 FJ40 today, and while the $230 for 5 years was initially hard to swallow, seeing that "16" year sticker was really cool:cool::cool:

Only wish i could still get collector plates on the 85 4runner :mad: Thanks again Gov Bill Ritter ... at least they got the "BILL" part of his name right..

Sweet

So happy to have my collectors plates on my 40. I was reading the laws a little bit yesterday and I hadn't realized before that instead of a bi-annual emissions test, for '81 and older vehicles it's an annual emissions test if you don't have collector's plates

Ouch. I think my 5 year tag was $120 a few years back. With all this new revenue flowing into the govt, why am I still dodging potholes every day.....

I wish they'd use some of that money to widen 36. Gotta love freeways built for 1970's traffic.

Buddy of mine had a lot of issues registering his 1976 Bronco. It's an early model so it still had the 1975 engine. Emissions was a real PITA for him.

Yep. Since I bought my '76 after the Sept 2009 grandfather clause, I have to get it emissions tested and can't get collector plates. That really sucks. Same goes for my '85 FJ60 I am pretty sure.

I got very lucky and had my 84 fj60 done about one week before the law changed and now I am good through 2014. My plates were only about $180 though.:D

Just got the renewal for my 77 fj40 think it was close to the same as you guys. The classic car council is also to thank for the collector plate changes, and the idiots in the junk rolling around on the streets putting out great clouds of smoke with collector plates on them for the changes. O yes and Gov. Bill Ripper.

Isn't it always 1970 in Boulder? I though I saw Mork & Mindy standing on the corner of Canyon & B-way by Alfalfa's last week when I was Cruisin' by there! :lmao:
