I think Tranny Frank has been screwing with my truck when I'm not home. I found some Backwoods Goop in my drivers side knuckle. He had not got to the passenger side yet.

Getting ready for CM2011 Dan? No tech in this S***...and we found plenty of that same Back Woods looking Goop that looked just like that lurking in numerous axle housings today at the 2001 BBPP!

IMHO, I think it should all be placed in one of those little backwoods shacks with a half-moon cut in the door.....:lmao:

Nice, looks like you can still re-use this stuff for many more miles:rolleyes:

less rolling resistance will lead to better fuel economy.

That's funny Dan...The :Princess:'s 80 has the "goop" on the PS but the DS looks fine...

I guess it is time to go in there and get it done...Just have to find the time - I'm bummed because it feels like I just did this but in reality it was about 4 years ago...Although she's no where near recommended 60k miles, probably not even half that and her 80 doesn't see dirt except for the inlaw's driveway.

You know I think Tranny Frank gooped this one up here, as well,

Its because of that stupid little plug on that axle,

And poking around the Bone yard @ a Rover Rig, goop in the axle ,

So them darn Brits have some "Tranny Franks " gooping up there axles as well,

Crazy,

Wow, If your not careful he will goop up your 3rd member as well, Yikes

The manual recommends a mixture of chassis grease and gear oil. ... At work we run 50/50 Molly cv grease and 85/140 gear oil (mostly in toyota's), ... gear oil, mix it into a slurry-like goop, and put it in the knuckle ...

less rolling resistance will lead to better fuel economy.

Interesting, You would get a little less friction using more of a oil lube in a wheel hub,

And like you say better fuel economy,

Wonder if that is why Commercial vehicles have oil filled wheel hubs, ??

or longevity ?

But yes less rolling resistance,

And Yet another one

I don't know about the rest of you, but that axle lube looks a lot like MY backwoods goop after an evening of gnar mexican food and beer.

I didn't know that one could relieve one's self in an axle tube, but I'm convinced.

And now I know I can sell that stuff. Here I've always been flushing/burying it. GENIOUS!
