Has this honor ever been awarded to a 60 series TLC?

If Gary built 2 winning 60's they must have been seriously sweet rigs! :thumb:
Gives me some hope. ;)

I really need to write up a bio and get the back story about my 60 out there. the short version is..... I learned how to drive in this TLC. :hill:

Thanks Ige! Just in case you don't remember me I was camped next to Beno and Spressomon at SRC in 2009.

Gary's 454 Mercruiser powered 60, right?

One was an FJ62 that had a big block merc V8 he called the mercruiser. The install was so clean it looked like it came from the factory like that. The other was a cherry high-roof HZJ61 he had installed Toyota cable lockers in. Both wagons were sprung over on ~35 or 36s IIRC.

Why can't we change this title to the nicest Toyota 4x4 Award. I feel left out.

The awards that we have presented for the last several years do not include a "Nicest Cruiser" award. Here is the list of awards that will be selected for CM 2011:

Nicest Vintage Rig

Sickest Rig

Iron Butt

Great Trail Leader

Cruise Moab MVP

Eightball Award

Eightball Award

I was at the dinner but didn't catch who won the 8-ball this year. Who was it?

Thank goodness I didn't get it again - Ricardo suggests that I should get something for my air conditioned crank case but I'd just as soon not! :lmao:

^That's correct. One of the guys on Kane Creek Saturday had a video of the roll, but I haven't seen any posted on-line yet.

I kinda miss the Nicest Toyota Truck award. Gives some equal time to minis without stealing any limelight from cruisers. Fits with a more inclusive TLCA stance too.

[Enter predictable UB comment here] :lmao:

Or how about a "Rusty Iron Butt" award for whoever drives their beat up, old, rusty Toyota the furthest to the event. 1000 miles in a rotted out, manual steering, topless 40 is more "iron butt" than driving 5,000 miles in a plush 80, 100, FJcruiser, etc. :hill:

I believe there was more than one video of it. One of the people videoing it was right next to me (I shot the pic posted previously). Haven't seen anything online yet though.

If you look a few posts back, you'll see that we eliminated BOTH the "Nicest Land Cruiser" and "Nicest Toyota Truck" awards. This was for a number of reasons, including trying to determine if we needed an award for "Nicest FJ Cruiser" too (in an effort to be as inclusive as possible). It was a point of contention for years.

Let me be clear: DESPITE THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE "NICEST CRUISER AWARD" ANYMORE.

Now we say "Nicest Vintage Rig" (25 years or older), in which Red Chili would be eligible. We also have "Sickest Rig," a category that Red Chili also might do well in.

Thanks for the kind words... but to be honest the Chili is far from the sickest rig, and there are way too many cherry vintage rigs (mostly cruisers come to mind) for the Chili to hold a candle to (not to mention she's not quite of age :D). Now if we are talking Gary's awesome (no... FREAKING awesome) FJ45... that's another story entirely!

No doubt. Sure easy to freeze up when the adrenaline boost hits 12lbs.
