Just got my plate renewal bill in the mail for the 40 and it says I have to get another emissions test. I just did this a year ago and the damn car is 35 years old. Does this sound right?

From the Air Care Colorado site:
"1981 and older vehicles require a two-speed idle test every year at a cost of $15.00."
http://www.aircarecolorado.com/consumer.htm

Sorry...that sucks.

Just doesn't make sense. I guess it's just used as another revenue source for the state.

yep. It would have been nice if you could have gotten collector plates before they changed the law.

be glad with $15. I have to take my diesels in every year to the tune of $50 a pop for testing.

Diesels have to be tested too? I am never selling my place in Breck. No emissions headaches are worth the mortgage!

Just take it to one of the mom and pop places and you will be fine. Keeps them in business and keeps you legal until the state realizes there aren't that many 35 year old vehicles out there.

I passed last year with no issues at all; it is just a pain in the ass to mess with it.
