Interesting, I would have expected a big diesel or something. I have hammered on mine pretty hard and never saw any issues (other than the pinion nut getting loose) even with the stock gears that had something like 270k on them. Does it have an anti wrap bar of some sort? If not it may be time to get one before wheeling it again.

What gears were in it? I may have a set of used stock gears if you need them (not my old ones).

I am glad you were able to make it home though, and am surprised it didn't finish breaking on the way!

Probably when I wheelied it. So I drove most of fins like that as well as drove it home. :hill:

I didn't notice or hear anything strange on Fins, did you notice anything driving it?

I'm glad nothing bad happened on the way home. :thumb:

Started noticing a vibration shortly after the run.

Glad we made it home as well. Thanks

Good troubleshooting!
I noticed some funny vibes before CM. Turned out all three U joints in the rear shaft were in various stages of leaving this life (not too bad considering the CV joints were OEM Toyota from 1984 :lmao:). And the splines had play. Englewood Driveshaft made short work of it with one day turnaround and really took care of me on price too.

I corrected the rear pinion angle before CM. After a really nasty few hops on Hummer Hill at CM, I am working on a torque bar now. Next up are heavier rear springs from Alcan (ouch).

Hey its the guy with the "nicest 4runner on the planet" I parked right next to you at the raffle dinner. :thumb:

When you install the stiffer springs will it still ride level?
