Ige, Mike, John, and I spent a few days exploring the Great Divide Basin in Wyoming this year. John and I were there in 2010 (http://www.risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=13253&highlight=killpecker) and couldn't get enough. Here are a few pics to enjoy.

We decided to change it up a bit this year. We followed a route across the northern portion of the basin. After we crossed the basin we then followed the Oregon/Mormon/ California trails thru South Pass.
It was an awesome experience to follow the paths of the pioneers and see the petroglyphs left behind by Native Americans that once occupied the area.
After facing several powerful storms on the prairie/desert I have a great respect for the hardships they endured. We also found a few tepee circles like the one in the photo below.
Below are a few HD videos of a fun water crossing (now my truck is throwing a CEL code 26)and getting stuck in quick sand (I thought that stuff only existed in old westerns).

we weren't trying for a slee shoot, but the perspective almost captures how the horizon seemed 1000 miles away with the tiny 2-track leading the way

at the 3rd camp site:

it brought to mind a time to me envisioned only in black and white

was doing a little work on my door wiring and found just how the winds can stick killpecker sand everywhere ;) you guys might want to clean out your doors to keep the rust down.

Noice! That looks incredible. Awesome pics! Looks like a one of a kind trail. How long of an expedition is it?

If you really rush across the basin you can make it in about 2 days. 3-4 days would be a better pace.

That's my old stomping grounds. I've spent a ton of time out there. Great pictures!

Here is a tombstone from the ghost town of Bryan-
http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj43/YFZ439/083.jpg

I'm a really poor photographer and the lighting was terrible but it reads-

"Erastus Wilcox Barnum

Died July 24 1883

Aged 29 yrs"

Bryan was a very rough town for it's very short existence. Poor Erastus was likely hanged.

That is a cool pic. Where in the basin is Bryan?

Bryan was not actually in the basin. It was west of the Rock Springs uplift being just west of Green River. I just thought it fit the theme of the thread and it came from the same general area.

Hmmm....he was hung on my birthday. No wonder I get the creepies looking at that.
Whew, need to plan a trip out with you guys one year. I'm loving me some expedition trips these days.
