View Full Version : How is Hagerman Pass nowadays?

I was thinking of driving Hagerman Pass on Saturday morning. The 4x4 map that I bought from the Leadville visitor center lists it as a "beginner" road, so I shouldn't have any trouble with my all-stock SUV, right?

If you have any recommended side trips while I'm in that area, I'd love to hear some suggestions! :)

By the way, I was in that area a few days ago and I drove up Tennessee Pass road - there are more wildflowers up there right now than I've ever seen before. I highly recommend that short drive!

If your doing Hagerman Pass from the Leadville side, it's an easy but awesome drive. The old railroad grade trestle Bridge, a way cool engineering project, is located close to the Hagerman Tunnel, east of the Pass and West of Turquoise Lake.

Wow, that's a cool place, thanks for posting, Perry! Yes, driving from the Leadville side and I'll probably go back to Leadville over the pass to see it from the other direction too.
