I have an extra coleman 200a lantern. It had to be completely cleaned and rebuilt. I tore everything apart down to the fount. Everything needed to be cleaned(valve stem, fount, fuel valve, and tip cleaner) and reassembled. It needed a new leather pump cup as well. I soaked the brass in carb cleaner and steel wooled the globe cage. I thought i could get the existing generator to work by just cleaning it but it wouldn't function correctly so I put in a new generator and it works like a champ. New mantle too. Still has original pyrex globe which if you're a collector is nice. This is a 9-64 lantern. The classic single mantle lantern. I'll give you a pack of mantles too. No chips in the porcelain hat and the tank is in pretty good shape. Some minor dings and wear but pretty good shape for a 46 year old lantern.

$50

This is my lantern of choice. I have 2 of them. Reliable, simple, and built well. The FJ40 of lanterns.

I have that same lantern...the one I grew up with but it needs a rebuild, too. along with it's little brother the single burner '503' stove. are they pretty simple to rebuild? where did you get parts?

Rebuild is pretty straight forward shawn. mcguckin hardware should have generators if you need one or you can go to http://www.coleman.com/coleman/parts/PartsDefault2.asp Most of the time it's just the generator and the pump cup if you can't pressurize it.

In a nutshell this is what i did to the one above

I spent a few minutes looking at old Coleman lanterns (http://www.oldcolemanparts.com/museum/index.php). Pretty neat -- I had no idea that they go back 90 years.

How old is the oldest one you have, Wes?

4/63 iirc... The one above I want to sell so I can buy a 242 which (i think) is the precursor to the 200a. It's a single mantle made in the 30's and 40's

stupid lanterns are addicting.

Sophie will want alot for that pink noodle. She will not bundle it with the lantern :D

who needs this? you'd spend 30-40 on one that needs rebuilt

kinda ****ty one for $40 http://denver.craigslist.org/spo/2520288408.html
another for: One Red single mantle coleman lantern Model 200A, Shield has a dent on one side - $45

Personally I like the 200's the best like CBMontgo. I have a 220F Double mantle and I like the 200A better. I just don't need multiple of the same model.

Wes,
I will give you $50 for it.... Just because you rebuilt it, and it has the Cool Factor of (little Red Lantern)... That should help enable you to feed you Lantern addiction further... :D:D

I will also be all ready for the next "retro-run", with only old style camp gear.....

Neil.
