View Full Version : Need a little help here

On my grocery list of stuff is replacing my clutch. I just got it out and the new one doesn't match up. The guides on the flywheel are too big for the pressure plate. But the new stuff is "teq" and aisin stamped. The return springs are also different. But I wonder if my flywheel is wrong. Any help is welcomed and beer will be provided if needed.

So attached is some pics, and doing some homework ( I like to do things is reverse order, ask for help on here and mud, then research things online, making things harder on myself) I think my clutch is setup for a 4 speed. I have an early 80's 2f, but still have a 3 speed in my 7/70. So I reordered the clutch for the engine not the transmission. This shouldn't be an issue right? I mean I have been running this setup now for a year. Plus does anybody know a good machine shop here in town, that can turn my flywheel?

top 4speed, bottom 3speed, you would need a 3speed flywheel or a 4 speed pressure plate.

Cool, I think the setup will remain as is. The new clutch should be in this afternoon. Thanks

Bad news, napa won't turn my flywheel. It's at the end of it's life. Need to find a newer one. Toyota will sell me one for $550

If you still don't have a new flywheel by September 7th, I may have one for you then. From a 75 FJ40. It is in my rig now but will be coming out then. Phil Gunn does a great job turning them if needed.
