Is it a tan interior? And just so that I understand, the head has already been done, correct?

What year/model is it? My wife has always wanted a Saab convertible.

Nice. Hope she's cheaper to maintain than my last Geliebte.

Cool car John, I have always liked the 944's. They are a blast to drive hard and feel great when driven. Super smooth. It looks like you ended up with a super clean one :)

abe - it is a tan interior, but the leather on the drivers side has the typical convertible wear, as in in, well toast. hence the memory foam, sheepskin seat covers. The rear seat needs a seam stitched, also quite common in the convertibles.

timm has already pinged me on it, so you can have seconds.

Nice new toy. Congrats

that thing is built backwards but, Enjoy it it looks fun with the top down!

@marco - I had a 931, a turbo gt to be exact, and the handling of the chassis is unreal. So much less work than a tail wagging 911/964/993. This car is essentially the 968, which I have always wanted since new, but with a different body. While I would love the turbo 968 cab, still stupid money for them, and I really don't need the hp.

What I can't get over is the chassis rigidity with the convertible. I know the mags and pundits all say its worse than the std 944 chassis, but I just don't see that much difference, except maybe in the a pillar area.

it has basically been in storage for the last 10yrs, getting 10k on it in that time frame. It has the usual 944 issues, visor cracked/broken, heater/ac clips need replaced, and the top has to be in manual mode (which is better anyway). It was a dr's wife car, and babied, that's for sure. I have it's entire history as well. Even has the old k40 system in it!

that's an awesome pick-up, John, jealous.. I could see doing something like that once we're out of car seat mode.

So much less work than a tail wagging 911.

Think so? How bout we set a date to meet out at HPR and see who's tail wags the most when they cross the finish line first? :D

There seems to be a lot of that "a convertible followed me home, can I keep it?" going around these days. Heres mine, note this is a file photo but it is a 2006 911 Cab in the same color as mine.

@randy - I was specifically referencing throttle oversteer, and if thats a c4, mine won't compete. 4wd was the equalizer in the 911's, ever since the 959. (which I have driven, and is like being held by a caring grandmother whilst riding a very smooth amusement park ride)

We have always told cal - no pay, loans or scholarship

Throttle oversteer is fun, snap oversteer from throttle lift....no so much. I love hanging the back of the turbo out around turns, and the AWD makes it so predictable.

there's nothing that was like driving a 1st gen porsche turbo. on or off. that's it.

08-18-2011, 04:34 PM
And just four gears....

Very sweet. I need to come hang out so we can go for a ride, JH. I'll buy you a beer at a cool bar.
