(This is going to get me yelled at by you guys, but here it goes anyway)

My Hamstick 20M, the one I was driving with, developed difficulties at the fiberglass junction and I simply ditched it into the garage. After being excited about HF driving I gave up on it. For now.

However, I have the Buddipole and I am using it in a vertical configuration. I have a quick connect on a 22" piece and I put together a full 20M 1/2 antenna very quickly by screwing together:
2 * 22" + 2*32" plus the 4 section shockcord 88".

At CruiserMoab I did not have the 32" sections so I was a bit short using 4 x 22".

This is stationary. I can't drive with it. And then I had a brilliant idea. While operating in my driveway, I also going to charge my car using my Battery Tender. That way I won't be depleting my batteries. So I have being doing it for a while with terrible results. Noise level coming up and down. I was a bit fed up with it.

Then a week a go I had an epiphany, is it possible that there is a connection between terrible noise level and charging my car at the same time? Hmm I am all for hypothesis and experimenting.

Went over to the A/C and unplugged the battery tender. Back into the car. Noise level 0. Quick QSO with Dominican Republic, Southern France and Germany with no detectable noise level confirmed my stupidity.

So there. Don't charge while HFing.

That's called hash. Some hams have a major hang-up about switching power supplies in general just for this reason.

Great! It has a name.

I checked my garage setup for weeks for some kind of a problem until I finally realized it was a battery charger I was using too.

that was only on 2M though.
