View Full Version : Cam Belts

I'm sure the question has been asked before...but does Toyota still use a cam belt on any of their engines? What about the VVT engine in the 100 series cruisers from 2006/07? Did they go to chain drive for that system? How many miles should a belt go?
Thanks, Roger L. FJ80

Toyota suggested interval for replacement is 90,000 miles. I did mine at 120,000 and again at 210,000. Still a belt

belts are used because they are quieter and replacement is usually easier than chains. Often if replacement is very difficult by engine design they will use a chain.
