I installed my new headers today. My Hanes manual calls for 33 ft/lbs of torque to seat them. Seems really, really light to me. Can someone confirm with a factory manual?

Thanks in advance-

Drew

Tighten until breaking, then back it off 1/2 turn? :hill:

'77 FSM says 28-37 ft-lbs. for the manifold. 36-51 ft-lbs. for California models.

Good, I went with 38# as mud had it mentioned a few times.

I will retighten them after the first few heat cycles.

Thanks Matt!

I had so many problems with my '78 2F backing off the nuts, that I put red Loctite on them and reefed them down to a lot more than 30-something. No problems since. I agree that 30-something lb-ft should be 'right' for a cast iron manifold - but mine simply would not stay tight. YMMV.

F manifold is 27 ft-lbs. 2F is 33 ft-lbs.
