Got a neighbor up here in Evergreen that has a 1967 FJ40 thats been sitting in his driveway for 12 years and ran the last time it was started. It does need a few things to get it moving, otherwise you will need a trailor to take it home. 6 Cyl, 3spd on the column, some surface rust, with a little cancer on the bottom of the rear doors, but floor boards looked good......$400.00
His name is Bruce @ 303-674-3985

i might have to call him....that's tempting. did it look fairly unmolested.

The body was pretty decent considering, no real dents in it just some surface rust. To get it running...new hoses, fluids, needs some tires they were flat, and a starter, maybe plugs and plug wires...just things that need replacing after 12 years of sitting there............

Actually I was thinking $450 for it too. There is another slight problem about getting the keys and you will need to repaint it before anyone sees it but other than that what a great buy! Second thought....I can work with $8...any other bids?

I now have a 67 in the stable. :D I think it's really a 66 that sold in 67. It needs a little bit of lovin but nothing I can't handle. My wife enjoyed watching the Bears up there on Bruces' porch

Now.. Let's see, I need a bench seat for it and maybe some long jump seats to get it back to stocker condition  IGE

Will a fj60 starter fit in a 67?

That's all for now. I owe you a few cold ones Evergnmtnman

Will a fj60 starter fit in a 67?Congratulations Wes! So what are you going to do with your 76 back east? I know you had been talking abut selling it. Having another 40 will make that less painful.

Yes, the 60 starter will work in the old F.

I am planning to lose the long jumpseats in my 71 when I put a roll bar in it and go to short jumpseats, but my time frame is for after I'm done with my 76, which is probably too long for what you are wanting.

Interesting, I went to the SOR site and from the frame # it's a 5 or 6 1966 not a 67 :D Typical on the older ones! The title went by import date not production date. My '64 is titled '65. It was obviously early '64 production too as the original throttle linkage was '63 style.

Yeah.. It's a 66 with the brass tag.

I've had Marvel mystery oil and some seafoam in the cylinders. I think it may be frozen (rings to the wall). How do you turn the crank on these old ones. I'm used to my 76 having a nut on the crank pulley. I don't see one here. Rocking it in 4wd doesn't seem to help either. I'm guessing I may need to pull the head and re ring it?

Should have the hand crank. Put it in 3rd gear and rock it?

It was obviously early '64 production too as the original throttle linkage was '63 style.I had always heard that back then the dealers titled them, by sale date. At least that's how it was explained to me. Supposedly all those 1967 FJ45s were actually built in 1966 and sat on dealer's lots until they finally sold.

Pretty quick and easy, and more torque than either of the above methods.

anyone want the project. I really want to keep it but have come to the conclusion that I don't have the room. In a round about way I do but it prevents me from working on other things that are running.

It's a very solid truck. Frame is in supurb shape. The front of the wheel wells are rusted and only a bit of minor rust on the rear channel doors are solid. Needs an engine and paint otherwise it be a nice rig.

I always wanted a nice stock spring green crusier...

x that by 4 and it's yours...

I paid $400. I have probablyhave a tad more into it and getting it to my place. It'd be nice to get $400 though. No hub caps, sorry.

It has later ~76-78 seats. I started to sand the surface rust/paint on the HT and it really just needs that and primer and paint. I thought about putting in a 2f or you could use it to build up a wheeler. I'd rather not have someone part it as I could do that. Feel free to come over and look.

when can i see?

wesintl
11-29-2005, 07:38 PM
There ain't much wiring on a 66 :p .Best thing is probably find a good 2f and bolt it up. Put a coat of paint on it and put in some better seats. The seats that are with it need work. But hey it's $400. I should kept that engine from UB. Whenever you can drag your ass over :D

I even thought sanding it and rattle can it. It probably wouldn't look bad. Needs weather strip all around. It is what it is...If I had a 3 car or no hoa I'd keep it and put it in the yard. :D

$500 to turn it into a buggy ;) That would be putting it to use... I kinda don't want to see it cut up and thrown away cause it has potential. It just doesn't look great. Do I get to keep the other half of the parts?

Best thing is probably find a good 2f and bolt it up.Wes, since you are on the LCML, you probably noticed that RS member Terry Holben wrote that he has a 2F from his pig for sale. Motor's located at Proffitt's. I think it will come with an SM420, too.

I get a tad crazy with the delete button sometimes.. was that him getting a 4bt?

my preference was to turn this back completely to stock but with the main needs of a powerplant and the lack of F135's and the relative higher availability of F's and 2F's it's really more suited for an upgrade. I then ended up getting more of what I originally wanted, a 64 with windshield vent and large sight glass carb. So maybe the buyer would be interested in terry's 2F.

I'll still give the coarse axles a home though.. good spares for the 64 :) I plan to wheel it but only on mild argentine pass kinda stuff.
