Not sure if all you know this, but 450.050 is KOA. Our one and only TV is off and stored this weekend while we have our floor refinished, so I am compelled to listen to the Bronco game on the radio. Sitting here with the laptop and my VX-3.. actually sounds just fine, and quite handy. Go Broncos.

This was one of the first things I discovered when scanning 70cm a long time ago.. are there any other radio broadcasts that you know of on either 2m or 70cm?

It's station KJJ372 (http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/license.jsp?licKey=1110427).

Most TV and radio stations have auxiliary frequencies in the VHF and now more often in the UHF bands. They use these secondary allocations for all sorts of things, studio-to-transmitter links, remote pickup units, field source linking. Think about how much of a PITA it would be to put a MF AM radio on a helicopter compared to a UHF FM radio.

If you scan around you'll find a lot of them across 160-170 and 450-455.
