It was great to meet a few of you at yesterday's meeting - thanks for the welcome. Someone mentioned posting a picture of my Taco on the forum, so hopefully I've found the right place.

I drive a 2004 Tacoma Double Cab. So far, the mod process has been slow, but I built a rack, added an ARB front bumper and Hellas, and lifted it with Alcan custom springs and Sonoran Steel coilovers. Next up is welding up some sliders and a rear bumper, skids, and a winch. It's only money, right... The plan for the truck is really just to get me and the family out (and back) to the good spots for climbing, kayaking, and camping - nothing hard core.

I'm hoping to see some of you at the Snow and Pizza run. I don't have chains, so I'll just plan on owing beers to folks kind enough to pull me out if I get stuck!

I'm in south Evergreen near 285 if anyone else is nearby and wants to get out.

I have no forum experience, so please let me know if I haven't posted pictures the right way or if I put this post in the wrong spot. Thanks, and I'll see you out there.

Welcome to RS!

Nice truck, I love that rack. We have the same truck and have been trying to come up with a method of mounting our tent to the roof while keeping the topper on. Looks like your setup would work perfect. Any more details on the rack would be appreciated.

There are a bunch of Rising Sun folks up here in Evergreen, Conifer, Kittredge, Bailey, etc.

Here's a few more photos of the rack. I'm glad you like it. I'm planning on a RTT up there at some point (anybody need to sell one?). I don't have any of the measurements, but I basically just bent up 3/16" to go around the bed rails - it extends down about 2.5" inside the bed on all three sides to give me a mounting point for a hi-lift, shovel, etc. Everything else is .120 wall just bent by eyeball. the platform is perforated steel with square tube (well, rectangle) crossmembers. I'm probably going to add some bike rack mounts between the upright supports down each side of the bed, then I'll blast it and take it to powdercoat.

Nice truck! Welcome. You may not want to do hard core, but put some sliders on that truck and you'll be able to go just about anywhere.

BJ, what kind of wheels are those? Looks nice, I think someone ahem, nakman kinda wishes he had his quad cab Taco back...

Nice looking truck! Somebody has welding skills...

The wheels are stock FJ Cruiser wheels, just powdercoated black. The BS is slightly different (inward by 1/4") from stock Taco wheels. Wish I would have thought about that...

My welding skills look a lot better after a grinder with a flapper disk on it! :)
