View Full Version : Old FJ40 hub options?
01-05-2012, 10:48 AM
Ok, so the picture below is what I currently have on my 3/71 FJ40. I was told this front axle is a 1968 or 1969 but I'm not sure. Looking at the picture can someone tell me my options for replacement hubs? They are the 6 spline WARN. Would the 6 spline hubs sold at CCoT work? Can't spend that much on them now but just wondering what my options would be. Anyone have something that would work that they want to sell? Looking for the cheap option for now. I talked with Off Road Ltd and a few others but nothing was available unless they order something for around $300.... Also checking with Warn to see if they would have parts available to rebuild these but no word yet. Thanks.
Can the ones you have now be rebuilt? I have a box of parts you can have for free.

What's the problem with the hubs you have pictured?

lockers just spin, don't engage, leaking and one side is buldging out a bit at the switch, this may be needing a replacement gasket/o-ring or worse. I still need to de-gunk them up more to see if I can find the issues.

cleaning them up will probably do wonders. I had a set that after cleaned up started working well again.
Unfortunately if Matt has later hubs IIRC there isn't much that crosses over to work with the old coarse warn barrel adjuster style hubs.
Yeah, I think my stuff is later fine spline parts.

If you decide to replace the hubs entirely, you should be able to find coarse-spline LC hubs for just about free. Don't buy a new set until you see what's floating around in the club.

I'm hoping that is the case... Anyone?? I'll bring beer!

So what happened to getting the Warn hubs from Dean?

Dean has a plan to use the hubs, he said he would have some other Selectro's off his rig in a month or so that may work. Thanks for tracking that down Randy. Cheers.
