Hey, I am just curious if a 1991 80 series tranny (a440f) will bolt into a 1988 FJ62 (a440f)? I think they went to the a442f in 1992 or 3? The 80 series is full time 4wd and the 62 has a 4spd split case so I know the transfer cases are different but do not know if they both bolt up to the same output shaft on the tranny. So to keep this simple, are the two tranny's the same???

Thanks for the help!!

Brian

Both trucks had 3FE's right? So how different could the same model number tranny's be.. I vote same. :)

Yes, they both have the 3FE but not the same TC... Hoping they are the same :thumb: If the output shaft is not, that would be the kicker... I cannot imagine Toyota would change the output shaft  right!!

Update: The shafts ARE NOT the same.. Live and learn...
