View Full Version : Metberry again...

My dad was in town from New York for a few days so I took him down to the South Platte via FS360 and Metberry Gulch.

The trail was blocked in many spots with downed trees. Probably from that nasty wind we had last week. We moved 4 large trees off the trail and picked up some trash. 2 of the downed trees already had tracks going around them

We hooked a strap around the trees and pulled them to the side. When I went to grab my saw, I realized I had inadvertently left it in my garage. We moved the trees far enough off the trail so other rigs could fit without widening it. If the 100 could fit by, everyone else should be able to too. A saw would really help clean it up even more though.

I'll also post a report in the Colorado Trail Patrol database. That area is still dangerous when it's windy. There's a lot of large trees in loose soil waiting to fall.

Some more pics from today....

Thankfully, my father took me 4 wheeling and camping all over New York's Catskill and Adirondack Mountains as a kid. He taught me about respecting the land and the outdoors. It's nice to go out with him now that I'm an adult and show him the area that I now call home. Hopefully my son will remember all the trips I take him on, just the way I remember my time with my dad.

That's awesome Stan! I'm sure the Forest Service will be cleaning up the trees, but it's definitely a good opportunity to get practice using the CTP database! :thumb:
