View Full Version : RC Cruiser for Bridger?

After the trip to the Notch and Bridger seeing both Tim's RC 40 crawler and Marco's RC Pro2 race truck Bridger is hooked. If I wanted to get into something in the $300 range what advice to you RC owners have. I would prefer a crawler that moved slow rather than the high speed stuff. Building an 80 series would be cool for me. Something reliable... Is there such a thing?

Mine's a Tamiya CR-01.. which is one of the lesser quality RC crawlers (compared to Axial, etc.) it's more of an out of the box drive it thing, you wouldn't use it as a platform to build a competition rig. Not sure if you had a chance to see Barry's truck, but I could tell it was put together much better... or maybe mine's just been wheeled hard for a while by 20 different drivers.. I think 40's should be kind of quirky to drive anyway, that's what makes them special.

Here's what I have, brand new: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tamiya-23656-RTR-R-C-CR-01-Toyota-Land-Cruiser-Red-BRAND-NEW-IN-BOX-/150813657551?pt=Radio_Control_Vehicles&hash=item231d31c9cf

brand new 40 body: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Tamiya-Toyota-Land-Cruiser-40-CR-01-Clear-Body-51331-NIB-/290680402867?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43ade6f3b3

I have a new 40 body and 80 body, but they are in a tub in the attic- I just can't seem to need another hobby, so it doesn't get much attention.

You could buy Bridger a bunch of RCs that he can break and you won't cry over before you spend 300.00

We bought ours at Wally world. They have a 90 replacement no questions asked with receipt, after that you can buy the 1 or 2 year replacement program for $3.00..

We returned our green one on the way home from CM and picked a blue pick up truck.

If Corbet doesn't claim this, I'll take it. Lilah has been asking about as well...

I'm definitely interested. Any more info to be had. I don't even know what a CCO1 is :o Part of me is asking why anyone would put a 2F from a 55 into an perfectly good 80 series? But a quick search shows its a basic RC chassis with an 80 body? That might be a good place to start with a 2yr old.

Found that. So does it just need a controller? Anything else? I can handle the shipping if you can get it to fedex.

Like I said, good place for a 2yr old to start. :D

This is what Jacket's son has. I've had my eye on it for Ferguson. Not a crawler, but not as fast as Marco's. Get an extra battery and an AC/DC quick charger. Good starting point without spending too much money but better than Wall-mart quality.

It came with an 80 series body and I ordered a new 80 series body from Ebay. Although there were no decals included? Kind of sucked. Your link took me to a Jeep body????

Hey Tim is that just like yours but with the WRONG body? $179 seems like a decent price. How much do 40 bodies go for?

anyone use the Axial XR10? It's between that and the Wraith for me. I don't know enough to know if I can get my 80 series body on the XR10. It looks really low profile on the chassis part. http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/xr10/new/main.html

The XR10 is a MOA rig (motor on axle). It will cost more in the long run due to mutiple speed controls and upgrades needed. The Wraith/SCX10 are better options for a scaler type build. I'm looking at building a hilux off the SCX10 platform.

For now I still just race at MHOR.
