Taking a quick vacation and staying at Alpine Accents between South Fork and Wolf Creek, won't have a rig with us so non wheeling activities. Going to fish one day, and hope to whitewater raft on another day. Any advice as to where to raft and with what guides? would it be better to go over to Pagosa Springs? Is Lake City opened up yet via 149?

Thanks,

Fireman

If you run out of things to do Pagosa isn't a bad option. The drive over Wolf Creek is nice. Stop and stretch your legs at Treasure Falls. The hot springs have been upgraded pretty significantly lately and are a nice place to spend an evening if you don't mind sulfur smell.

Enjoy the views!

Not having a 4WD might make this tough, although we've hiked in through the La Garita wilderness route and it's a peaceful but non-trivial day hike. I want to say 14 miles round trip by foot.

Had a blast. Ended up fishing and just plain old relaxing more than anything (other than shopping) and had a blast. Beautiful country but really wished I had a rig to explore! Did Pagosa, Creede and Lake City! You guys got it good!
