View Full Version : Source for reman'd racks?

The steering rack in BlackBean (1997 2.7L Taco auto 4x4)has vertical play on the driver's side. Inner tie rod ends are fine; that means any rack from a 4Runner or Taco would do just fine. I kinda hate to wear the new tires unnecessarily.

Anybody know
1) someone who has one in good condition (Oleg does not), or
2) a reasonable source for reman'd steering racks?

Thanks much- they can get a Crown reman for 279, lifetime warranty, or they have a Beck-Arnley reman for the same but only 90 day warranty. Significant core charges. Seem right to you? Crown seems like the best 'deal', if you can call it that.

Ahhh... gotta love Google. Found the Crown Reman site because their guarantee sounds good, found the western rep, he recommended a couple other dealers. Import Car Parts, (303) 789-1789, is about $30 cheaper.

Neither place has it though. :(

Or... Burt recommends CVJ, 3/297-2448, 4101 Brighton Blvd, they do their own rebuilds, lifetime warranty, $290 ($125 core), for what that's worth.

I know I'm posting answers to my own question, but what the heck, mebbe sumbunny else needs to know. Anybody else?
